And I can't remember many players actually buying out their contract to the extent of paying £20mil ?

I'd rather we do that than pay the 25m Sakhtar are asking, that would be a good deal for us and reasonable for both sides. Sakhtar are saying that they want this to be done in a "civilized way" as in not by Mkhtaryan forcing his way out, but they're asking for too much money IMO. 20m is enough.

I don't want a player at the club that will happily do that
Imagine how we would feel if Suarez did it to us
That would start to set and very dangerous precident
hope you are not laying the foundations for your next hate figure.....unfortunately players have broken contracts for many a year; every club has probably experienced it at sometime, we have been the victims of player power ourselves ....buying out your contract seems pretty reasonable considering some players would just play like a bag of sh!te for awhile just to force through a move

If that is the way it pans out we should be ashamed. Especially when you consider the outrage caused by Suarez' attempted forced move antics.

I agree , it's usually a more dishonourable way like Owen, McMannaman,Torres for example
with regards to the hate figure...you made it quite clear over the last 18 months how affectionate you were towards Suarez

I understand where you're coming from guys, but if we don't do it, it doesn't mean it won't happen with us in the future (for example Suarez forcing his way out). It's how things work in modern football. You may think that an extra 5 million is nothing to multimillionaire owners, but you're wrong, 5 million is still a lot of money. The amount of money that you can gain or lose in this business is huge and it's not a joke guys. That's why nowadays we see things being dealt with in this way very often.
