Luis Suarez signs for Barcelona

actually i am quite liking the prospect of selling suarez for 50m and using that money to brg in 2 or 3 up and coming prospects.
if we can brg in muriel, benetake and eriksen with the sale of suarez. then why not?

suarez + 10m = muriel, benetake and eriksen. (assuming each cost 20m)

seriously who wont want that trade?
but will RM pay us that kind of money? those scums will only want to shortchg us, and we must stand firm.

WTF is going on, first we buy Carroll and now Muriel.  Football's going to the dogs.

Liverpool have the bargaining power here in the transfer saga of this want-away bloke. Apparently there's no 40M get out clause and so we can start the up bids from 50M at least and let the highest bidder pay for it, preferably we get 80M for him. So if they aren't willing to pay an astronomically huge price for him which we are entitled to since just playing football per se, he is a world class player, tell them to f**k off.  I don't blame him for wanting to leave because it's unlikely we'll have CL footie for at least another 3 to 4 seasons with the way the club is being run by the owners ie buying young players,  but he should have been honest and upfront and should have said he wanted CL football and not beat about the bush by blaming the press for wanting to leave. Nevertheless, I still feel there is a slim chance he could stay for another season if we put a huge price tag on him. Bale and Cavanni are their first and second choice and they might not have much funds left over to pay 80M for Suarez. He did us a favour last year by extending his contract and at least he is not doing an Owen, McManaman and Torres on us.

that is true, at least he's not walking away for £10m or worse still FREE.

Not sure we'd get £80m though, I'd like to think we could be realistically I can't see Madrid tipping up more than £40m

the ultimate smack in the face will be if RM scums pay 60m to spurs for bale, but try to lowball us for suarez at 40m

I am sure Bale will be their first choice. Let's hope Spurs will demand a huge price tag on Bale and with minimal funds left over, they can't afford Suarez and Suarez stays for another year. 80M would be ideal but 50M is the minimum we want for LS.

£40mil is what I expect him to go for - clubs will knock at least 10mil of his price tag because of the issues

Disagree. If they're worried about the 'issues' then they shouldn't buy him. Full price or no go.

I wouldnt sell him - Hes got 4 yrs left.  I think we should say he is not going but we will consider selling him at the end of next season.  We need Suarez for another year to help us gain Champs League.  After that we become more attractive to top players so if/when he goes we have a better chance of replacing him with quality.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

It was the same when we bought him - Ajax wanted 30mil plus for him but we got him for considerably less.

We could do what City did with Tevez but we are not in the position to do that - if Suarez really does want out then he will go but it won't be for much over 40mil

All in your opinion of course.

A potential bidding war won't know it automatically has to stop at 'much over 40mil'.

And the club are in a position to flaunt Suarez to possible suitors.

Having seen the players we are linked with/already signed, I have ZERO confidence that the manager will be able to replace Suarez with players of a similar caliber regardless of what we get for him.

The only positive thing in what we are doing now is that we are going for players from outside the premier league and as such wont have to pay the inflated prices we paid for average players like Downing, Carroll, Henderson..etc

We are however, still going for average players. Players who have proven NOTHING at the top level and ones who are being sought after by other mid-table clubs across Europe. As things stand, I cant see any of the players we are being linked with (K.Toure, Atsu, Aspas, Mignolet) improving the starting 11 we have today. Our other competitors for 4th place (Arsenal & Tottenham) are going after the likes of Higuain, Jovetic and Damiao; tells you all you need to know about why we are where we are.

I can only hope that Rodgers somehow convinces the likes of Suarez and Reina to stay at the club for at least another year and that we bring in at least one player who can come in and improve our starting 11 from day 1.

exactly, those players are making the first 11 weaker, we have to add to what we aleady have. might not be that easy considering the position we are currently in, but surely liverpool fc can attract the same calibre of player as tottenham
