Minimum Requirements -This Season...

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

to see a progression and vision for the team going forward in terms of the way we want to play. the final league position is almost immaterial to me. i still expect us to finish around the same position as last season. if we get top 6 then we have overachieved given everything that has gone on at the club in the last few years imo. there's been a radical overhaul and no stability.

i also think we're more than capable of winning one of the domestic cups again.

When we were chucking money at it and failing, buying poorly, it drove me mad as we should
have been doing much better with the investment.

Those days are clearly gone now and we have a vision for the club and my expectation has
lowered accordingly and even lads like Gerrard have re affirmed the position and in short
not to expect too much anymore.

I agree with a previous post in that league position is almost an after thought this year and
all I want to see is a steady improvement in play and that anyone we bring into the club
upgrades the team.

To be quite honest I just gave up chasing the dream and we are what we are now, and before
us is Liverpoool today in the here and now and it just not in a position to be the powerhouse club
its been in the past, maybe one day, but for the forseeable future its just not.

Were dying out for a goalscorer in january and whos brendan gona buy Sturridge. Dont know what he sees in him. He is defo not the answer. To slow to greedy and doesnt score more than 6 goals a season. We will finish no better than 8th place if he comes.

The reporters in the know, suggest that the Sturridge deal is unlikely because we would only commit to a loan deal.

I think Rodgers should go after Stefan Kießling.

I still think 6th is a possibility, if we get our act together and buy a top drawer striker in January.

i think the first requirement is to win more games!!
saw a stat today that said so far this season we`ve played 18 games (that surprised me, didnt think we`d played that many).
we`ve won 8 (but 5 of those wins have come in the europa league), drawn 5 and lost 5.
we`ve conceeded 25 goals and 9 teams (in other words half the teams we`ve played) have managed to score 2 or more against us.
so basically over near 20 games we`ve lost and drawn two thirds of our matches and we are shipping goals at an alarming rate.
we`ve had some bad luck with refereeing decisions and the likes but we really need to start improving, those stats arent good enough for a club of our stature.

9 games in and 10 points to show for it is another stat you can add. were only 2 above the relegation places and 14 behind utd in whats is effectively the first quarter of the season gone.
again its our own inability to put the ball in the net thats killing us and it has to be addressed in january. if we dont then its possible we will just hover above the drop all season.
i can see us pressing for walcott if he still hasnt signed at arsenal by january. i dont think he is the answer either as he isnt prolific and tends to pick up a lot of injuries.he's a classic case of hype from 6 years ago but on a free or under 5 mil would be worth it. he will be valuable to the team in terms of pace and assists but he is no trigger man.
if he hasn't penned by january then he aint going to so we should wait and imo spend what we have in january on what we need in a finisher.

Nope, I still want us to finish at least one position higher than last season and given what I have seen of us so far this season, this expectation doesn't seem beyond the realms of possibility.

I dont think we have a minimum requirement any longer with owners that have dumbed down the club.

What we have is a product that comes in on budget and a support that buys into that ethos on the back
of a TV documentary and the threat of liquidation if we stray from FIFA Fair Play guidelines.

What we are now is a club looking to punch above our weight in terms of expenditure, so if we spend less
than a club and finish above them its like winning a trophy anyway (loser thought process) but a comforting
way to deal with failure.

I just hope the owners back Rodgers in January and show some ambition at least.

A nice... but depressingly true summary of the current state of affairs.

Minimum requirements?
Lucas back and better than ever, Yesil blooded and the kind of 18 year old striker we luckily had in the past, Suarez to stay beyond the end of this season, the manager (and the man himself) to recognise that Gerrard doesn't have the legs anymore with Allen ready to take over....
A big ask. I reckon I"ll write a letter to Santa!
