The issue is RH can make us difficult to beat but his rigid formations and tactics stifle ability and knackers the player out running around after shadows, he needs to loosen the leash and let them play otherwise by the Ukraine game they will be dead on their feet.

I thought Jonno had a great game, he was by far our best defender.

I thought Johnson had a poor game to be honest

Don't agree with that, offensively he wasn't at his best (but mind you no one was) but defensively he was good

Might I remind you of El-Hadji Diouf, Salif Diao and Andrey Arshavin and how they all lit up at respective tournaments along with Mexican footballer Pavel Pardo and then failed to live up to expectations.

Johnson had an average game, he kept Ribery fairly quiet, although there were times when Ribery skinned him alive down the left flank.

EURO 2012:Russia are given a six-point suspended deduction from their next Euro qualifying campaign after fans improper behaviour

what a bloody joke, if that had been England they would have kicked us out.

Portugal Denmark game is pretty good.  Bendtner actually playing really well with a couple goals.  I love watching ronaldo miss break away after break away, but watching pepe throw his hands in the air for an off side call anytime Denmark make a pass on the offensive half is getting a bit annoying.

The Germans are too good and Gomez has world class finishing. I'd bet the Germans on winning the whole thing

The Germans really look like the complete outfit. Today they were absolutely dominant against the Dutch, controlling possession for much of the game, creating and scoring two excellent goals (Gomez looked a lot better than some people had given him credit for), and only really coming under threat for a brief spell at the beginning and towards the end of the game after Van Persie scored a brilliant goal to give the Dutch a glimmer of hope. The contrast between the two sides in terms of organisation and work-ethic, and in particularly the quality of the defence, was abundantly obvious throughout with the Germans maintaining their shape and their defensive discipline, and pressing with much greater urgency than the Dutch. There was a great example of that when Hummels breezed through the Dutch midfield and defence to get a shot on goal mid-way through the second half. There's no way the Germans would have allowed that to happen to them, and they didn't. That's why it took moments of real class from the likes of Sneijder, Robben and Van Persie for the Dutch to really threaten the German goal. They were your typical ruthlessly efficient Germans really and they'll take all the beating.

(Cue them getting knocked out next round  :D )

I told my brother at the beginning of the tournament that Germany would win and Gomez would be top scorer.

Just throwing it out there.

Had Van Persie taken the two early chances that presented themselves to him and had Sneijder scored with his excellent chance then Germany would have lost. I don't think the Germans played as well as they have done, but the sign of a great team is when they can still get the results without necessarily playing their best football. The reason Germany won last night was due to hard-work, doing the basics right and taking their chances when they presented themselves. Mario Gomez is a very underrated striker, people always talk of Didier Drogba, Fernando Torres, Messi and Ronaldo, but in my opinion Gomez is one of the best strikers in Europe. The great thing I like about Germany is that the midfield just create pockets of space for each other, Lowe has got his system spot on with Podolski and Muller out wide and Ozil and Schweinsteiger operating in the center.

I was disappointed with the Dutch, they invited Germany to play, their lack of pressing, their lack of urgency and their lack of spirit was embarrassing. Germany vs Holland is one of the biggest International matches and only one team really turned up for it yesterday. Holland looked a lot better when Robben was moved over to the right - the introduction of Van Der Vaart and Huntelaar really helped the Dutch, but it was too little, too late.

As someone who has watched Germany since falling in love with them after Euro 96, this is one of the most exciting German teams I can remember, Hummels, Badstuber, Muller, Boeteng and Ozil are very young and they are always improving, if Lowe keeps this team together for the next two years they'll be in a really good position to win the World Cup. I would expect Germany to go out with the intentions of beating Denmark, but the great thing about the Germans is that I feel they'll only get better as the tournament goes on.

The dutch are their own worst enemies, every competition there seems to be off field problems and seems to be the case this year as well.
Crazy that they still even have a chance of going through.

I think any German side will beat Denmark so they just need to beat Portugal 2 - 0 (i think)

the dutch are over rated imo, they are a bit like argentina in the sense that they have great forwards but at the back their players are the type of average defenders that play for mid table premiership clubs.
to be fair to harry redknapp he said as much on the BBC before hollands first game against denmark, when everyone else in the studio was waxing lyrical about van persie, huntelaar, van der vaart, schneider etc he just said no team with the likes of heitinga and a young fullback who has only played 45 games in the dutch league will win this tournament.
re germany i wouldnt say they look spectacular or anything but they do look solid and organised.

Germany is doing great as always, and they will probably f*ck up in the semi-final/final like they usually do.

At least they get into the latter stages of a competition consistently. If only England could manage such a feat.

I really hope the Irish beat the Spanish. I get fed up with the constant overhyping of Spain. People are going wax lyrical over Spain and they were unfortunate enough not to have gone down 2-1 to Italy after Di Natale muffed up a golden opportunity. I can see of no reason why Spain cannot be beaten.
