I've always advocated AVB but been hearing not so pleasant stuff about his man-management, and now even from Lukaku. Not entirely sure if it's real or just media spin as I'm pretty sure Lukaku did have another interview saying how he's been learning a lot at Chelsea.

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has launched a stinging criticism of former-manager Andre Villas-Boas, insisting he will "never forgive" the Portuguese boss.

Lukaku, 19, believes that he was sidelined by Villas-Boas from the day he arrived at the club, saying the former-Porto boss did not treat him with respect.

Although Lukaku was signed during the Villas-Boas era at Stamford Bridge, he was bought as a result of a long-standing scouting project by the club - not at Villas-Boas' request.

Speaking after Chelsea's Champions League triumph, Lukaku told Sport Wereld: "I could not believe it. I had to think 'Is this really happening'? European champion ... My life has changed and I'm only nineteen.

"But there is one person that I will never forgive for what he did to me - the previous coach. It's not just that. It was also the way he spoke to me and treated me. Right from the beginning, it was weird. I could not stand how he was treating me. I received no explanation.

"In training he put me on the right or left wing. In training matches I was a substitute with a shirt to keep swapping teams. I really learned nothing! I have told the club that too. I understand that he was under pressure, but I was also thinking of myself. I have improved in recent months."

So the facts we have are that Martinez has been approached for talks and has accepted. Rodgers, de Boer, and Klopp have turned down the chance to speak to the club and Unai Emery has signed a contract with Spartak Moscow. I’d think that the remaining candidates will come from the below list.

any one of the top four of that list will do nicely. all the rest forget about.

I wouldn't say no to Laudrup, but I'd like Rijkaard, he plays the sort of football I'd enjoy watching. de boer would have been nice if he'd come.

Ballague on twitter said Rafa was not approached, and will not be approached this time. I think FSG are keeping him as a last resort if we fail to get any of our first targets.

I would take AVB over Martinez any day

you know how much i love Rafa Metalhead and would take him back in a heartbeat , but i dont think he will be our next manager , to much was said about him to FSG from within the club, and he has not been approached 

Yeh Nanny, not Rafa's biggest fan but if he was given some backing and came back to us he would do well, I think FSG are looking at other targets and they will turn to Rafa if they become desperate

reckon they know who the next boss will be but need to go through the interview stages to appease the business. Interview so many then make a choice but I reckon Rafa has got it. Then they can say 'we've interview 10 candidates and Rafa was the clear favourite' instead of just saying 'Weve got rafa back. We know he's an ex manager of this club but the fans wanted him'.

got to be benitez for me out of that lot, klinsmann has done nothing at club level, rijkaard doesnt look half the coach he was at barca and i think the same could be true of guardiola (i think he is genuinely stressed to f**k and wants a break anyway), mourinho wont happen, AVB-lambert-martinez and even laudrup  too inexperienced for such a high pressure job, not sure old campaigners like capello and hitzfeld would settle here, blanc and deschamps have never managed in england and the former is an ex-man united player which would be the first thing thrown at him if things didnt go well, cant see ancelotti leaving paris and the big money......
benitez just ticks every box, he`s won major trophies, he`s proven he can mix it with the big hitters with limited funds, he`s managed in england so knows the culture of the game in this country and knows a lot of our opponents and their style of play / atmosphere at their grounds etc, he`s dealt with the pressure of managing us before (infact he did it under extreme circumstances so working under a stable FSG regime would be plain sailing), tactically they dont come better, he loves the city and so does his missus so no chance of him leaving in 6 months because he cant settle in the area, plus he loves the club and the fans, and the fans especially the hard core match goer`s love him. he`d put a lid back on the pandora`s box that has been opened since kenny got sacked.
benitez is the man for the job, are FSG brave enough to bring him in? no, i doubt it.

I think you and Benny are just totally blinkered when it comes to the next manager, me i don't don't really want rafa back because i believe it would be a backwards step and i don't agree with selecting a manager based on whether his wife likes the city or not and I think you have a rosy memory of Rafa if you believe that tactically he is the best in the world because I remember some very strange tactics during his tenure here, at least you will know two things if he came back, the team would be different every week and the subs will be on at 65mins .

Id love to see Rafa back but I just don't think its going to happen. 

2 CL finals in 3 seasons.  An FA Cup.  Came closer to any other manager to winning us a PL with 82 + 86 points. 
Built a fantastic team with nowhere near the same kind of money as Chelsea had.

I do believe the wheels started to come off last time he was here but he was never given a chance to turn it around.   
And perhaps the wheels would never have came off if it wasn't for H+G.

Rafa is a fantastic manager though and I think the year out will have done him the world of good.

every manager on the planet makes decisions that baffle their fanbase, you go to a united forum and united fans will be saying wtf does ferguson see in such and such a player or why did he drop such and such a player for that game.
as fans we dont see the entire picture, we dont know who`s injured or who`s trying hard in training or who spends the week joking around and being lazy.
that rotation thing was just like the zonal marking thing, it was just the media having a go at benitez, anyway that all stopped when rafa was here because someone pointed out on the telly at the time that ferguson rotated more than rafa, at the time united hadnt played the same side in 99 consecutive matches, for some reason that never got mentioned again, i wonder why?

I accept a lot of what you are saying but after his short spell at Inter top clubs haven't actually been running after him with open cheque books. Why do you think that is?

I also believe we conceded more goals from set pieces last season than any season under Benitez. Zonal marking rocks
