Cannot say I am sorry to see him go. Hilarious looking back at the comments in August '11. In fairness the buying has not yet being successful but he did get rid of some absolute sh.t

Step 1 in the right direction. Well done John Henry and Co for dealing with this straight away before the summer comes and they end up wasting another boat load of money. Comolli made a bollox of a job at spurs and he has really made a bollox of it here too.

We don't need a Director of Football.

Glad to see them also urging everyone on to get behind Kenny, the team and the club.

I like this Fenway lot. they take no sh!t

If he has been sacked then it looks as if the owners are blaming the signings for the bad season and not Kenny which should mean kenny will still be in a job next year.

Also I think the timing of this is very perculiar on the back of a win where our 2 best players are new signings in Carroll and Hendo

This ...  :bowdown
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Lots of conclusions being jumped too currently.

Interesting news indeed.  Could lead to a number of scenario's.

The only thing it confirms right now is that FSG are just as frustrated as us at the lack of progress.  And that Comolli must have had a big enough say in our signings.

I just wonder whether this is the end, or whether there is more to follow...

What do you mean? Comolli was the one who identified and bought those players last summer, I for one glad to see him go

I seem to recall one of the major reasons for comolli's hiring was FSG's experiment in implementing baseball's saber metrics into football. he was supposed to be the stat guy, FSG's Liverpool version of billy beane. I guess this means that all that stuff is over now. but if FSG wanted to hold someone responsible for the likes of Adam and Carroll, comolli's dismissal is only a warning to someone else in my opinion.

A very sensible move for all parties whatever happens. Kudos for him for getting rid of the waste so quickly but a big slap for his failing signings.

Can't see how he got the jobs since he wasn't very well liked at his other clubs. Or is his job to me a terminator?

Because so far the only reports are that it's mutual for family reasons as opposed to him wasting money etc and FSG wanting him gone.

It could of been the opposite with FSG trying to keep him but Comolii persuading them to let him leave.

Also Kennr picked the players to buy. Comolli did the deals

Interesting comment by Kenny though

Moneyball = Good Scouting.

Comolli was supposed to bring that gift and his sacking confirms we've failed in the scouting depratment.

Its not the solution, the solution is only found when we have a fully functioning scout setup and young, talented players coming in.

Its a step on a very long ladder.

no, family reasons is just an excuse, journos are saying that FSG done a transfer review the past week and decided to let him go.

one down, one to go. I think this is the clearest indication yet that kenny will be replaced in the summer and I'm very happy to see FSG taking some action. If kenny is responsible for the signings and if that is the main reason for giving Comolli getting the Au revoir then Kenny's days are numbered I think, and I say that with not the slightest bit of glee because I still rate kenny as an absolute legend as a player and servant to the club.

Anyway all focus on Saturday now and lets pray that Everton don't consider just peppering our goal with shots and that we get a great performance from our attackers. I have a feeling it could be a very high scoring match, we have to go all out attack.

Comolli did a fantastic job in the summer of getting rid of players we didn’t want. We were only left with Joe Cole and Aquilani but they both went out on loan in any case. For the first time in a while our squad size looks reasonable and I imagine the wage bill came as come down quite a bit.

But on the flip side we have done poorly with incoming transfers since Comolli has been at the club. The quality of player targeted (which I assume he is at least partly responsible for) has not been good enough to take us forward and the prices paid have been inflated.

The people in charge at his previous two clubs (Tottenham and Saint-Étienne) don’t have many nice things to say about him and when he was at Arsenal he was just a scout.

Every club needs someone to negotiate transfers and someone to scout talent for both the first team and the academy. But those roles shouldn’t be performed by the same person and the individual scouting talent must report directly into the manager.

I think moving him on is a step in the right direction but Kenny will still need to come under the microscope as players targeted in the transfer market and performances on the pitch have been below expectation.
