I'm honestly not too happy with signing these kids like Ilory and Luis Alberto. I mean, what's wrong with Sterling, Suso, Yesil, Morgan, Ibe, Coady, Kelly, Wisdom, McLaughlin, Sama... heck, even Coates? I'd rather give our kids a go than sign someone that has shown no more than them.

Anyway, seeing with how many attacking midfielders we're being linked with, I think Rodgers will have Couthinho play wide next season. A new signing will probably take the number 10 role, playing behind the strikers.

We should never stop signing these kids though - it has to be a constant flow because the percentage that make it is very small

that alberto does look classy and apparently that llori broke christiano ronaldo`s junior sprint record for sporting so he must be f##king quick for a tall lad.
he`s only played a handful of games (less than 20 i think) but attracted the attention of a lot of clubs. emlyn hughes was the same, we signed him after just a handful of games for blackpool.
it`s good that we are still building for the future but it`s the here and now that counts, it will be signings like papadopolous, mkhitaryan, muriel, erickssen, alderweired etc etc that determine wether this has been a good transfer window or not imo.

I think Coutinho is wasted if he's not used through the center, that's where he really excels.  I hope he stays as an attacking mid, but with the option to play out wide.  Somebody like Henrik M can pretty much play anywhere, and if we were to put him in one of the wide positions I think he'd do just fine.

Also, when on the outside Coutinho loves to work in.  Maybe that's the plan, is to play Coutinho out wide with the freedom to float inward and have that AM basically float out wide for him like we saw Hendo do quite a bit, which worked really well against one team we smashed..  newcastle maybe?

i`d leave coutinho in the center as well, now suarez is going we should be building the team around him.

Maybe they don't make it because they're never given a real chance? I agree that we should never stop buying for the future, but at this moment we have a lot of talented kids in our team, and I'd much rather we gave them a chance. No need for kids, at least not in this transfer window.

I was thinking about something similar. Coutinho has the ability to cut inside and beat fullbacks with pace. This is exactly what Rodgers wants his wingers to do and that's why I think he'll put him on one of the wings. He's also very lightweight so maybe Brendan is taking this into consideration as well.

Although I'd like Coutinho to stay on the position behind the strikers, I wouldn't mind if he goes out wide and someone like Mkhtaryan replaces him as a number 10.

If they are good enough they will shine through - you can look back and you will struggle to see many youngsters who have left and didn't make it because they didnt get a chance

There's noting new, Rafa bought 20 x 16 year olds who didn't work, all they've done is pump the target age group up to 20. Is a fact.

The kids we're being linked with now will cost us serious money though. We might have to spend at least 10 million to sign both Ilory and Alberto, and I don't think that's the kind of money we should be spending on future prospects, something that we already have. I don't mind signing players for the academy, some 16-18 year olds that wouldn't cost more than a million, but 8 million for this Luis Alberto is ridiculous.

It was that sort of thinking previously that made us miss out on both Walcott and Bale - both promising youngsters going for 10mil.

Bascombe is claiming we are readying a £20mil bid mkhitaryan.

hopefully we wont take too long about it and get all the work done(proper) and put pen to paper as soon as that window opens. id be surprised if we are the only club interested in him.

I cant believe these are long term options, max 3 years then they'll want out. The squad is becoming mercenary basised again.
