Just to follow on, from indykaila on twitter (same person who said the comments above), apparently Brendan Rodgers has raised concerns to FSG about Ian Ayres handling of potential signings

great state of affairs imo if we're now trying to get the best deal we can and not paying more than we have to. We been negotiating the fee with them for a while, but then southampton come in last minute with a high bid - that's not our fault.

But in any case Coutinho has played most his games for Inter and Espanyol from the left although he can play centrally or on the right. I think if we do sign him he’ll play on the left.

Considering the “source” and actual content that rumour has about much creditability as Lance Armstrong.

If he wants to go to Southampton good luck to him.

If he wants to play for LFC then he has to tell inter he will only sign for us. I like this policy  not being held to ransom and only signing people who are hungry to play for us.

Agreed.

Ayre is the face of Liverpool in negotiations and that in itself poses a problem for the club
because he is such a miserable ba@tard.

Liverpool submitted an improved bid of about £8 million for Philippe Coutinho last night and are confident of signing the Inter Milan attacking midfielder, despite offering less than Southampton.
The South Coast club are willing to pay about £10 million, but Coutinho’s preference is to move to Anfield.
Ian Ayre, the Liverpool managing director, held further talks with Inter officials yesterday and increased Liverpool’s bid for the 20-year-old, who will need a work permit.

No longer speculation, Southampton have had a bid of 10.2 million bid accepted by Inter Milan ,they await Liverpool's next move .
I dont mind losing out to the Saints with the likes of a defender who plays for  fucking Molde ,but when its our top target
after Sturridge ,and a genuine South American talent ,then it sticks in the craw that we're getting outbid by teams who bounce
in and out of the championship more times than a fucking Yo Yo .

According to BBC Coutinho wants to stay in Milan.
And that Reina is still targeted by Barca...and worse still, by the filth !
