Is there still work to be done, though?

It's difficult to say. I'm sure there will be players going out because some players would like to play more and have more minutes. We will probably have a few loans as well, players who we would like them to develop, into the Championship or the leagues abroad. In terms of players coming in, it's difficult to say. I think we are going to sit down, look at the situation, see where we are, see who might leave and then we will reassess later. But we have done most of what we wanted to do.

from the offal, talking to Comolli

£25 million for Baines isn't realistic, not for a defender.... Tho Coentrao did just go for 30 euros so I guess anything's possible.

He's definitely my #1 LB tho.  Would be very excited to get him, and I wouldn't be upset if we paid 20 for him either.

I don't think there will be any new signings now until a few are moved out, based upon Comoli's comments on official site following Downing's signing.
Suggests they are going to take stock of the situation and try and trim the squad first.

On SSN this morning, it stated that Comoli confirmed that our transfer dealings for the summer were nearing an end.

I just don't belief that at all. I'm sure there are a couple more players that we are after and intend to bring in this summer.

I think Aly Cissokho will be the last signing of the summer

I'm sure they're referring to the quotes I posted yesterday and trying to make a story of it though it did seem to imply that we're going to sell now before we buy

I think a left back will come in, lost hope on the centre back tho

I think you're right when you say Cissokho would be our last signing, or any left back for that matter

If Ngog goes then we could do with another striker in the squad imo. Buying a left back will hold Robinson back and we have Aurelio for a bit of experience there. Centre halves could be better but we can survive with what we have and there's Kelly, Wisdom and Wilson who we could blood in if needed. If we keep what we've got and sell Jovanovic, Poulsen, Insua, Kyrgiakos then I'm happy. Cole's wages annoy me but at the end of the day if he wants to stay and fight for his place then fine by me, his attitude seems spot on, same goes for Maxi.
