Jamie Carragher says Liverpool's transfer activity is set to pick up and expects to see more talent arrive at Anfield in the coming weeks.

"It's still very early and I didn't expect too much to happen on the transfer front before now," he told the Liverpool Echo.

"Over the summer players, managers, chief executives and owners are all away on holiday.

"It's only the start of July and with pre-season getting going next week I'm sure things will soon start moving.

"You often find that one deal sets it off and everything happens from there.

"I'm sure it will kick off over the next few weeks and hopefully we'll get a couple more new faces in.

"The club now has a policy of focusing attention on young players and I think that's the right way for clubs to go.

"You want to develop a team and have players at the club for a long time. I think that approach will really benefit us.

"Things don't always work out, but it's much easier to move on a younger player who still has a decent sell-on value than someone in their 30s."

Carragher pointed to the acquisition of Henderson as an example.

"Jordan is a great signing. I know one of the coaches at Sunderland who rates Jordan very highly," he added.

"He had a great season with Sunderland and we're fortunate to have got him. I think he will add real energy to our midfield."

If we sign Milner it will be horrible. This lads the dullest footballer imaginable. I reckon Dagger likes a bit more character than that in his players and the next few weeks will see some exciting footballers arriving at Anfield and not City castoffs either. I know this aint the 80s but jesus wept we still have some credibility left surely.

Don't know how true this, but i'd like to think it is.

Some have been talking about the 2 lists. It's pretty much what i was saying last week.

I know it's quiet, but i just feel that we will sign very good players this summer will be very pleasantly surprised.

I don't understand the criticism on James Milner... he's actually quite decent...

He is ok but not worth anything close to 20 million. But hey we bought Hendersson and Carrol so why not go for another one.  :D

Definitely not worth 20 million mate... but I believe if we can get him for 15-16 million, and considering the premium on british players, I would definitely get him. I think he can be an asset for us playing on the left. When he was playing for Newcastle, I wanted us to sign him but then was disappointed Aston Villa signed him.

I think we should be in for Nasri but his wage demands may be the issue as it's rumoured he is looking for £120k+ p/week and we won't pay that and quite rightly so. If Nasri goes to Man City then surely that will see Adam Johnson surplus to requirements and we should look to nip in with a cheeky wee bid :)
