Hope not! Don't remember any signing from Italy that has done well in Liverpool; from Dossena to Balo and that keeper Padelli.

I've gone back and forth on this but:

Is it Italians who struggle in this league or players from the Italian league? Could well be both because the number of failures strongly outweighs the success stories

Think many players from the Italian league struggle with the rough 'n' tumble of the league and the fact they don't get as much time on the ball.

Apart from a small handful of notable exceptions Italian players have failed miserably in the premiership.

I might have stuck this up before but as a reminder here's a list of EVERY ITALIAN TO PLAY IN THE PREMIERSHIP up until last year. The amount of failure is just gobsmacking  and the money wasted by clubs (us included) is criminal !

I remember you posting this Woof and it's a damning read. I wonder if there's a similar trend with players from that league in general

One of this club's best ever bargains was also from that league - Coutinho for 7.5mil!

Arsenal also got Bergkamp and Henry from Italian clubs. Chelsea took Gullit, Desailly and Zola from Italy.

But agreed in general it is a massive risk buying from there, totally different style of football.

Mate, I think I said " Apart from a small handful of notable exceptions Italian players have failed miserably in the premiership.

Maybe i'm wrong but don't think Coutinho, Bergkamp, Henry or Gullit are Italian   :p

Klopptomaniac made a comment above re whether it was a trend of players from that league (rather than Italian players). I was discussing that.

But thanks for pointing out that those players arent Italian mate - insightful post!

The Pulisic rumours are resurfacing , with a January move expected, according to the Daily Mirror. Would make sense, given that Mane's off for a month for the Africa Cup of Nations. We also need cover for his role.

Liverpool target Christian Pulisic as Jurgen Klopp plans January spending

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is ready to dip into the transfer market in January in the wake of Danny Ings’ season-ending knee injury.

Klopp’s attacking options will be further depleted early in the new year by Sadio Mane’s month-long absence due to the Africa Cup of Nations.

Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi are the club’s frontline strikers but Klopp believes the Reds may need to splash the cash in order to ensure they have sufficient cover to maintain a challenge for silverware.

Owners Fenway Sports Group have made it clear that money is available to strengthen the squad with Klopp having returned a profit on his transfer dealings last summer. New sporting director Michael Edwards will be tasked with drawing up a list of potential targets.

Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic remains on Liverpool's radar after they failed with a bid to sign the young American in the summer.

He's highly rated that lad, it would be great if we could sign him and Dahoud in January.

I still feel we should persue a LB in Jan. If Milner is injured we've had it. Moreno will jeopardise our chances.

Agreed redshade. I would really worry if we had to rely on Moreno for a run of games.

Seems Klopp will go for a wide forward though... i suppose he knows what he's doing!!
