Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

I've never been a massive fan of Hendo. He was absolute garbage for a long time after he arrived.Yes he did improve but it was from a very low base. He had a great season when we nearly won the league and his sending off against City was one of the key reasons IMO that we didn't win the title. He has to accept that he is Henderson and not Gerrard. Lets face it he has taken over from a legend and that was never going to be easy. I have said before that I don't think he is clever enough to do the job. I would like him to prove me wrong because his attitude is excellent. If he doesn't play is he really missed? Will he grow into his new elevated position? Perhaps he needs more time. Maybe another season will provide more answers. To be fair to the lad he didn't take the job on at the easiest of times !!

2 Sunday morning papers claiming Juventus want Benteke to replace Mario Mandžukić

Italian clubs always try to screw us over the fees. Not convinced they'll pay anywhere near what we want for him

I'd sell Benteke on for the minimum of £20 million. Juventus have enjoyed playing with a target man over the last couple of years so he'd fit right into the system. We need to invest in someone abit more mobile to replace him.. I'd keep Studge, Origi and Ings and also get rid of Ballo.

I'd prefer to sell him abroad though, he's the type of player that could come back to bite us on the @rse.
If he had a 1:2 strike rate during his time at Villa he could easily better that at somewhere like Chelsea or West Ham.

(Jonathan Northcroft - Sunday Times)

Klopp has ambitions of recruiting a top controlling player to partner Emre Can in Liverpool’s central midfield. He will consider jettisoning Jordan Henderson as part of a summer rebuild, Klopp is interested in Ilkay Gundogan but is well aware that Manchester City are also keen on the player. Jurgen Klopp will consider jettisoning his captain, Jordan Henderson, in the summer rebuild he plans for Liverpool.

Thats excellent news. If he willing to make tough decisions like that then all the other loafers will be out as well. Good to see he's already talking behind the scenes with agents etc.. so come the day of the race he has buyer's lined up for our dross and replacements lined up on agreed terms to avoid a bun fight.

Seeing Flanno as captain yesterday said it all. Klopp isn't afraid to make big decisions and seems to want a local lad as captain who has a voice. I don't think he fancies Henderson and I bet him and Skrts put themselves on the clearout list this summer

I genuinely thought we could make fourth but that performance yesterday brought it all crashing back down to earth. We're relying on beating Dortmund now

Granit Xhaka is a more likely option than Ilkay Gundagon this summer for Liverpool.  (Jonathan Northcroft Times)

Xhaka would be a great signing, two or three players coming in of that type of quality would transform us.

I honestly doubt that we can get Xhaka, he is a very wanted man by the likes of City and Bayern. However, I also think that he's slightly overrated. Would prefer Gundogan.

I think City are going for Gundogan, that's why we are favourites to land Xhaka, either of them would do me, they'd be a significant upgrade on what we already have.

Looking at City's midfield options, I think they will go for both. Will take them to a whole new level.

Since the arrival of Rafa, we now have a man at the helm that can sell a project and potentially bring in the kind of personnel to execute his project efficiently.
It will be an interesting summer.
