May be wrong, but think he may also be owned by a third party and just wondering whether they are looking to cash on in him. Doesn't seem to be the same player after his injury. Even in the summer, he was meant to be going to a couple of other premier league clubs according to his agent but nothing happened

Reg makes a good point. I don't mind that other teams don't want him, but why would both Corinthians and Sao Paulo want him out? Why would Corinthians loan him to Sao Paulo in the first place? A fishy situation, combined with his injury record, I'd have to say no to this transfer.

Clubs seem to loan our players all the time and then pull out of buying them

if none of the Brazilian vlubs want him why cant we loan him from jan and if he is any good buy him in the summer with the money we sell Balotelli or Sturridge for

His injury record is a myth. He has been injury free for about 3 years now.

He can play anywhere across the front 3 and his goal and assist ratio is unreal.

I would take a punt on him, 14mil for a guy who offers good service across the front 3 is a yes from me.

14 million for Pato + 16m on Balotelli..... thats a lot of money being thrown at players with no logical reason to believe can restart their careers. I don't remember Paisley thinking that was the way to replace Keegan when he left.

We have to get out of this Moneyball frame of mind, you replace quality with quality. Stump up the cost and keep moving forward.

I like Pato. He'd make a decent 3rd choice forward. His goals record isnt great but his style of play is. I wouldnt say he can play anywhere across the front 3; he's a center forward and I think he'll struggle playing any other position in this league. He's explosive like Aguero and plays with his head up so can provide a few assists here and there. Nowhere near as good a finisher but with his technique you wouldnt rule him scoring 20+ goals a season at the right club with the right setup and service. Closest players in the league to his style of play are Aguero and Martial. Not the worst 2 to be similar to. He'd be a good fit for Arsenal but cant see him getting in our side ahead of Sturridge or Benteke.

If we plan to play 2 upfront, then bringing him in and sending Origi out (on loan or permanently) could be good business. Priority for me is still signing CMs though. I'd be more excited about us being linked to Wanyama, Gundogan, Marchisio, Pjanic, etc.

I'd put Stan Boardman up front if it meant we never had to play Origi again.

Daily Express are linking us with Empoli attacker Riccardo Saponara

I must say i have never heard of the guy, we have a really bad record with Italian players and this does concern me if true

Anyone familiar with him or seen him play ?

There's a lot of IFS and BUTS re; Pato
KLOPP doesn't come across as an IF and BUT kind of guy.
Av swallowed a chill pill since Klopp's arrival and will see how things look in 18 months time. It's so much easier on my heart and blood pressure

Wouldnt go near Pato and we never learn.

Club loves a potential bargain but hes never fulfilled his potential and not playing for his team in Brazil plus hes injury prone.

We should only be buying players significantly better than weve got.

Xabi Alonso says he won't extend his contract with Bayern.. Rumours are linking him with a return back to us. I think he could still do a job even though he'll be 34 by then.
