Sane mainly plays on the left and cuts onto his stronger right foot. He doesn’t look particularly pacey to me but seems to be able to beat his man with skill and close control. So would be something like this if we got him:

                  Benteke

Coutinho     Firmino     Sane

the only reason coutinho will leave is because he wants to. signing quality players should only serve to remind him that the club is ambitious and going places. the only player who's place i would consider under threat with a player like sane coming in would be lallana who also is used as a wide forward more often than not, and is not as good as him. maybe it would also jeopardise the return of markovic.

the thought of sane making the kinds of runs he makes so that countinho could ping balls into him from his confirmed presence in the centre is kind of mouthwatering, no?

A combination of reasons Andy, but yes Coutinho wanting to leave would be top of the list. Sane is primarily a right winger although I expect him to gradually become a central AM to allow him a bit more freedom and because he isnt the best at tracking back. He wont come cheap and if we dont snap him up another big club will.

Another big reason is his style of play. He's more individual in his approach to the game -a bit like Coutinho- and I'm not sure having 2 attacking midfielder looking to dribble and take shot at every opportunity is something Klopp would want. Overall, signing him for a big fee -given we already have 4 top attacking players in Coutinho, Firmino, Benteke, & Sturridge- should in theory make losing one of them an easier pill to swallow for manager and owners.

There have been a few reports the past few days linking Brazillian Pato to us, today though things have really ramped up with many usually trusted accounts reporting it, same ones that broke the Firminio deal

Alexandre Pato to Liverpool for €20m is very close. There is an agreement in principle with Liverpool. (@AlfredoPedulla)

Man Utd are also linked with Pato so it sounds as though this agent is trying to spring him out of there by creating a raft of rumours.

Pato's agent is working overtime to drum up interest in him. Has fallen away since his that brilliant spell at Milan. Not sure about him now,  seems to have had real issues with injuries but if he is able to return to anything close to what he was at Milan, he would be a fantastic addition

Wow... Alexandre pato... Was supposed to be the next big thing... His qualities are obvious to see... But injuries and fallen out with Milan sent him back to Brazil...
I don't know man, risky business, but if he has put behind his injuries, he's a player I really like. Has pace, power, eye for a goal and a pass, a complete forward. Certainly very suitable for Klopp's game.

He hasnt been injured for 3 years now. Good signing if true.

He accused Milan of rushing him back from injuries and playing too many games, critized the club doctors in general... The move to corinthians was abit of a fall from grace for a player that is supposed to be the next big star and take on the mantle from kaka...

It has hit the mainstream papers this morning, Daily Mail saying we have agreed "A deal in principal"

Source: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... ident.html

Liverpool 'agree deal in principle' to sign Alexandre Pato, says Corinthians president
Alexandre Pato has been linked with a return to Europe from his homeland
The 26-year-old is on loan at Sao Paulo until December from Corinthians
Pato said he won't renew his loan and hopes to move to England or Spain
Corinthians president Robero de Andrade claims he will move to Liverpool

Alexandre Pato will sign for Liverpool in January, according to Corinthians president Robero de Andrade, who claims the two clubs have an 'agreement in principle'.
The 26-year-old striker, once tipped as the next big Brazilian star, is currently on loan at Sao Paulo from Corinthians until December but Pato revealed this week that he will not be extending his stay.
The former AC Milan forward moved back to Brazil from the Italian capital in 2013 and is said he is hoping for a move to England or Spain in the new year.

And if De Andrade is to be believed, Pato will get his wish and is set to play a part in Jurgen Klopp's Anfield revolution once the winter window opens in January.
The Corinthians chief claims that the deal is close to being agreed, admitting that there are still 'a few missing details'.

'There is an agreement in principle with Liverpool for the transfer in the coming weeks,' De Andrade explained to Tutto Mercato Web.
'Pato had long expressed a desire to return to Europe.

'Liverpool await, there are a few missing details, but Klopp will have a new reinforcement and for Pato the Premier League will be a new springboard.'
Klopp is short of fire power at the moment with Daniel Sturridge still struggling to shake off a persistent knee injury while summer signing Danny Ings has been ruled out for the season with a cruciate ligament injury.

Not sure if Pato is the same player he was at Milan after his injuries. Seems to have lost the electric pace he had.  I know a Corinthians fan and he says the club are desperate to move him on.

Who knows though, his stock is low at the moment and he has shown in the past that he has fantastic ability. For the right money,  it's worth the risk as long as he is over his injuries as can't afford another injury prone striker alongside Sturridge

Ok so let me summarise it so a dumb bunny like me can understand.

Pato was expected to be the next super Brazilian, started well, was over played, injured and went off the boil.
Shipped back to Corinthians, one of the Big 3 Sao Paulo clubs so not the end of the world, it didn't work out so was loaned out to a bitter rival, Sao Paulo?
Sao Paulo seem happy to ship him back at the end of the loan period in December,ie they don't want him.
Corinthians seem happy to sell him on to Liverpool, ie they don't want him.
No other Brazilian club seems to have discussed taking him in January, ie they don't want him.

There's something wrong with this picture lads.

Well the thing is Reg, reports didn't really mention that no other brazilian club wanted him. It must be that he is looking to move back to europe/uk clubs. I admit that it looks strange though that a player of Pato's calibre is not attracting more attention from european clubs other than the mancs and us... well at least there were reports linking him with the mancs...

He's looking to move back to europe simply because of the higher salaries and exposure. Doesn't actually mean he's any good.

If he can reproduce anywhere near the form he was in at Milan, he is miles better than our Firmino IMHO...
