$hyte I hope we get Suarez. I hope you all understand how good this guy is.

In his four seasons with Ajax he has had a strike rate of 0.71 goals per game. Last season he had an incredible 49 goals in 48 appearances and was named Dutch player of the year. He is 23 (same age as Torres when he came to us), and his record with Ajax is even better than Torres' was with Atletico. This would be a great signing.

I would love to see a Torres / Suarez Partnership, i dont think he will be as prolific in the goalscoring department however, in fact I bet he get hardly any, I mean even Dirk Kuyt was getting 40 a season in Holland, and he couldnt hit a fat woman in a breadbin

Quite a lot of talk about Suarez on RAWK too mostly rumour.

Tottenham are mentioned though, wouldn't be surprised if 'Del Boy Redknapp' got involved, he is never happy unless he is doing deals.

The Suarez deal might hit a rut on them holding out for too much money, hopefully it still goes through though.

Liverpool FC eye loan move for Aston Villa left-back Stephen Warnock
by Luke Traynor, Liverpool Echo
Jan 18 2011

FORMER Red Stephen Warnock could be set for a return to Anfield to solve Liverpool’s full-back problem.

The Aston Villa defender is currently being eyed by Liverpool during this month’s transfer window.

If negotiations are successful, Warnock could be snapped up on a loan basis with a view to a permanent move in the summer.

The Reds have been monitoring the 29-year-old after suggestions he is surplus to requirements at the Midlands club.

Liverpool are keen to land the services of the England international who played 40 games at Anfield.

That depends how keen Gerard Houllier is to part with the former Reds Academy player following limited opportunities at Villa Park.

Glen Johnson has been deputising at left-back in recent weeks, but manager Kenny Dalglish wants to bolster that position.

The Villains’ assistant boss Gary McAllister was quizzed about Warnock after their derby draw against Birmingham on Sunday.

Publicly, Villa insist he remains their player, but if negotiations prove fruitful, a switch back to Liverpool may be just days away.

Another Villa player who is pushing for a move to Anfield is England international winger Stewart Downing.

The former Middlesbrough wide man is understood to have told confidantes he is eager to come to Merseyside.

The Reds’ interest in the 26-year-old, however, is not as advanced as reports suggested yesterday.
While Liverpool are keen on recruiting a left midfielder, it is understood an approach for the England international, 26, is yet to be made.

Also on the Anfield hitlist is Ajax frontman Luis Suarez as the Reds search for more firepower to support Fernando Torres.

The Uruguayan has been watched countless times by the Liverpool scouting team after manager Frank De Boer conceded his striker was keen to move to another club.

While Suarez is under examination by the Anfield hierarchy, no offer has been made to the Dutch club, and at least £15m would be needed to persuade Ajax to do business.

Dalglish, in his previous role as club ambassador and scout, had watched a number of strikers prior to his appointment as caretaker boss after Roy Hodgson’s departure.

American owners John Henry and Tom Werner were in Merseyside over the weekend for the derby clash against Everton when the matter of potential transfer targets was high on the agenda.

Fernando Torres, meanwhile, insists Liverpool are moving in the right direction after the derby stalemate, he said: “Our target is to win games. We will see what happens at the end of the season but it's a long time since our last win.”

French striker David Ngog is battling to be fit for the Reds’ fixture against Wolves on Saturday.

The 21-year-old was omitted from the Liverpool squad after picking up a knock at Bloomfield Road against Blackpool.

Two Liverpool games in March have been altered for Sky TV. The home game against Manchester United is on Sunday, March 6 at 1.30pm, while the trip to Sunderland has been switched to Sunday, March 20 at 1.30pm.

Looks like the rumour about Warnock  has a great deal of truth in it ....I just hope the Suarez deal turns out to be  as equally as true ....
Anyway ....other than in coming players its good to hear Torres  and Gerrard sounding so positive again .... seems the King is already having a marked effect on the confidence of the players :;):

that's basically the head and tail of it. he'll definitely be leaving ajax as they've already stripped him of the captain's armband. basically it'll just be a load of posturing from ajax now to try and drive the price up for their financial gain.

I don't rate Warnock but a loan move would be ideal for our current situation so I don't see a problem with it, it's actually a good piece of business.  I don't expect too many signings this window but I think this summer is going to be very exciting, for the first time in a good 3 years or so I will be looking forward to us buying and not worrying about who we will sell.  That said I am pretty sure we will sell, but this time around replacements will be coming in and I think we are going to be a much better squad going into next season. :)

Uruguayan is open for transfer from Ajax to Engesle club
Liverpool sign up for Suarez

From our Editorial Telesport
LONDON - Star player Luis Suarez wants to leave Ajax. The striker from Uruguay hopes for the end of the transfer deadline on 1 February a dream transfer to Liverpool to achieve. The top scorer in the league of last season through his agent indicated that he was open to negotiations with the club of Dirk Kuyt and Ryan Babel today.

Luis Suarez
The management of Ajax since Saturday officially informed of the interest from Liverpool that is not through brokers but direct to the Amsterdam club's management has used to do business. Sunday had renewed contact between both parties.
Trainer Kenny Dalglish, who Sunday in the Merseyside derby against Everton, which saw Kuyt in the last minute third consecutive defeat occurred (2-2), Suarez sees the man who his team the much needed goals to start giving. At Anfield Road one is desperate now that the team has only four points above the relegation zone in the Premier League is.
Ajax were already aware that Tottenham Hotspur are seriously interested in South American was top scorer. The London club Rafael van der Vaart must first concentrate sales before joining Ajax to knock. Liverpool, by contrast, announced immediately want to do actual business.
For Suarez, Liverpool's most exciting club in England, because in selecting a large number of Spanish-speaking players sit. The Ajax player thinks the Spanish international Fernando Torres to form a good couple, as he at the World Cup with a golden combination Diego Forlan was the attack of Uruguay.

Loosely translated from the Dutch press ...but  I hope this means he definitely wants to come to the Reds
