Think it very plausible indeed that Ayre hasn't a club when it comes to player purchases. At one point Billy Hogan did the negotiating as well - think its a mess and think BR made it very clear how disappointed he was when Willian didn't sign

If Spurs out bid us then the fault is not down to negotiation with the player. Regardless, say we did match the bid and fault over personal terms with Spurs for him, then Chelsea came in - we still would have lost i'm sure. Willian seems like the short term type to take the best offer.

Willian was pretty much begging to come to us and it should have been signed sealed and delivered yet we dithered about whilst another team came in and got it down in two days ! When was the last time we got a player when in competition with another club ? When a player has to pick between us and someone else - when did they pick us over another club ? Why do we not get deals done quickly.

Ayre has history of messing up at club when dealing with players and someone else getting involved ( Hogan who is a commercial director !! ) speaks volumes.

Which part ?

Willian going public about his desire to join us ?

Spurs agreeing terms in 1 day ?

Chelsea sorting it in 1 day ?

Which players have picked us over other clubs ?

As for Ayre - ask any Huddersfield fab what happened when he took over the reins.

Must have missed when he was begging to come to us..but I did see him say.. "Other clubs were interested, but my intention and dream of playing for Chelsea made the difference."

Also pretty sure Southampton had a bid accepted for Coutinho before we signed him.

IMO opinion all things considered Ian Ayre has done a decent job being the managing director of one of the biggest football clubs on the planet. Sure, he could have done some things better, but his role has its challenges and some things are out of his hands. Have some patience, things are moving in the right direction.

sure is.

He didn't beg to go anywhere...he went where the cash was, hence he walked out of a medical at spurs as soon as he was told Chelsea would pay him (and his agent) a lot more.  F**k him, we've been fleeced far too much by money grabbing ***** over the years.

I think we're finally on the right track to success, without having to pay people like Willian for it.

Didn't we finalise the £35m down the shittar Andy Carroll deal in one day? Didn't Spurs put a bid in as we'll? Mind you I think they are now denying that out of embarrassment !!

Willian and his agent showed their true colours when they agreed to sign for Anzhi. Chelsea was a natural eventual destination for a mercenary like Willian. If RM had come in at the eleventh hour with more money he would be there.Willian showed a desire to join Liverpool. He wasn't begging. I have a desire to buy a BMW M3 however if I come into a bit more money I might just be tempted to go after something more exotic.it's not rocket science unless you are very naive.

"He (Kerimov) made it clear that, if good bids arrive, he would certainly help us go.

"Now I'm waiting for a new bid to arrive in the next days from a few clubs, like Liverpool.

"If it's really Liverpool, then it is surely a great club. I'm hopeful and very calm, just waiting for the best."

Certainly doesn't sound like going public to specifically want to join Liverpool to me  ???

Ben jefferson must be a bit desperate for a story. That rumour, which is probably correct, is about 3 months old. I thought the nonsense season had finished until January.

Sh*t game - England using good old Woy tactics !!

Yarmelenko is very strong on the ball with a good deal of power and pace

His partner on the other wing Konoplyanka is very tricky and skillful - wonder if we could get a two for one deal :D

Have to say that's where my eyes were last night as well, he looked pretty good and dynamic. Didn't seem to be a lot of fear in the bloke, I'd have him on board

Yea i noticed that aswell, he was pretty fearless, he kept going at the full backs all game, not one of these Stewart Downing types who just turn around a pass it backwards
