I'd be happy if we signed Kranjcar, he's not fast but he has great technical ability and he is a good passer.  He is the type of player that would give us better movement and creativity up front that Kuyt and Babel could not do.  However we'll still need to buy another wide player with pace.

Agreed, hence why I fail to see him fitting into the Arsenal side. They rely on mobility, and he's not all that mobile, although he is technically sound enough.

I rate the guy a lot, he'd fit into a 4-5-1 system, or a 4-4-2 system, but I still think we need a bit more quality, with a bit more mobility.

BBC rumours page:

Liverpool could turn their attention to Stewart Downing if their proposed move for Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry falls through. Reds boss Rafael Benitez is prepared to pay £12m for the Middlesbrough winger. (Daily Telegraph)

  :no

Liverpool goalkeeper Scott Carson could make his loan move to Aston Villa permanent in a £6m deal. (Daily Mirror)

£6million might be all we can get... and I'd actually take that for him.

Agreed. Kranjar is a v.good player and would fit in well at LFC.

Possibly a better option that Barry although not so versatile as Barry.

Absolutely. All part of the game. It looks like Rafa isn't f*kin about this year in his transfer dealings which is good.

Get the targets signed up now and work with them for the entire pre-season.

It looks like Barry, Riera and this LB from Italy are the main targets. I know nowt about the latter 2.

Sky sports:

Alves wants speedy deal
Sevilla full-back keen to leave

Daniel Alves is keen to secure a move away from Sevilla as soon as possible.

The Brazilian international, and club captain, feels that the time has come for him to seek a new challenge away from Sanchez Pizjuan.

He had appeared to be on his way to Chelsea last summer, but a 40million euros (£32million) price tag forced the Blues to look elsewhere.
They eventually signed Juliano Belletti from Barcelona for 5.5million euros (£4.3million), and have recently agreed a deal to take Portuguese international Jose Bosingwa to Stamford Bridge. With a switch to the Blues now seemingly out of the question, Barcelona would appear to be the front-runners for the attacking full-back's signature. "I really want to leave now and I hope that everything will be finalised as soon as possible," Alves said.

---

if only we could afford him... a great attacking RB, at a good age to buy who wants to leave his current club.....
