David beckham - The more i look at it...

Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

the more im starting to think this would be a great buy. for 2 main reasons.

1: we need someone who can cross the ball, and everyones saying we need a dead ball specialist.

2: hes good mates with stevie g, and they play well together

there have beena few rumours oing around about this posiblity (a lot depends on what sven does next also) but i honestly think this would be a god buy for us. It'd be the most interesting buy in the premiership ayways, and no matter what anyone says, beckham can still play some good football.

just thought id give this its own thread as i got a feeling teh balls gonna start moving on this particualr rumour soon

I rate this player, his set pieces are good, good crossings, not pacy but... good player

I'd love to read a medical report though, in which they clarify if the pain in his back that he has been suffering through out this season is  going to be recurring or permanent, or just temporary ???

He's also sponsered by adidas, who will be doing our shirts for next season....

But I can't see Rafa going for him or us affording him, plus he's a boyhood manc.

How long has he got left on his contract? I think that question needs to be answered first ,because it will depend on if we can afford him or not.

Beckham is too old.  Forgotten that Rafa Benitez always buys young players

I may be in the minority here but FFS NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

Beckham in a liverpool shirt - i think i'd sooner have an acid
enema. :Oo:
This is nothing to do with him being an ex-manc, it's all to do with him being IMO a circus sideshow that would probably disrupt the dressing room harmony as no matter what team he's in he always HAS to be the centre of attention so that brand BECKHAM doesn't lose one iota of exposure (probably through no fault of his own see his domineering missus about that!!). He is now heading into the twilight of his career which means that his limited effectiveness out on the wings will be reduced further still as he becomes slower and for somebody whose main drawback is a lack of pace will mean he'll find it increasingly harder to find the space to make his passes.

I really believe that Rafa will have about as much interest in signing him as Julian Clary has in having sexual relations with a woman (FUCK ALL). Rafa isn't interested in players with big names he's only interested in their work ethic and strengthening his squad, I don't think all of the publicity and the showbiz lifestyle will fit into the Rafa Benitez squad ethics of hard work on the pitch and a quiet life off of the pitch.

There aren't all minusses to signing ol' golden balls - he would bring vast amounts of merchandising benefits to the club (but the club will only get a small cut i'm sure once he's taken his share) and if Adidas are willing to stump up the majority of the money to sign him it would be a cost effective way for the club to fill a troublesome position.
His only other plus for me as a liverpool signing is that he's got premiership experience so would need little time to settle into the way of the english game.

David Beckham  can do a job for us as his passing and crossing is immense, imagine him swinging balls in for Morientes and Crouchy , however I dont believe this could happen as
1) He is making so much money for Real Madrid
2) Our relationship with Real is very un-amicable.
3) If England win world cup, he value will be ridiculous!

Nice thought though

Unfortunately can't see this happening.

Beckham is a fanatastic player with immense skill, but we couldn't afford his wages, couldn't afford to buy him and he (I don't think) would play for his childhood teams biggest rivals.

If Beckham comes back to the UK it will be too Spurs or Arsenal.

If he did come to Liverpool I would be made up.....
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

First of all I wouldn't want Beckham, and apart from that I don't think there's any danger of it happening anyway.

I wouldn't want him because of the media circus that surrounds him, we can do without that, and you can bet Benitez wouldn't have it either.  He's not the same player he was for United, he's in decline as far as I'm concerned (I don't care if he's improved for them this season, he'd done very little for the previous 2 seasons).  Still a good player and he'd be more than good enough to get in our side at right midfield, but he'd be vastly overvalued by Madrid.

Which brings me to another point, why would we EVER want to do business with that club again?  How many times do they have to stroke us before we learn our lesson?  Not for me thanks.
