I'll drive him to the airport.

Who on earth would want him? Some relegation battling teams from around the continent?

Generally, he's inept as a central midfielder, with abysmal long-range shooting, poor tackling, and limited ball distribution

I really hope Liverpool didn't buy him as a Mascherano replacement, cause if they did, boy did they get :censored: over in that one lol. Thanks for taking this garbage out of our hands. Make sure to warn the fans at anfield to duck whenever he takes a shot.

He doesn't excel at anything. His passing is average (you'll be surprised at the amount of short and simple passes he misses) and his shots more often than not, end up in row Z. Also, he has this awful habit of shooting with his left foot. Needless to say, he doesn't hit the target.

Since his first season here I was never impressed with this guy. He's average. Thats it. He's not a game changer, he barely contributes anything at all. He creates more fouls than winning tackles, his passing is nothing special, his shots are... well we all know that one.

lol we really needed another un creative denfensive sending off waiting to happen midfielder. I bet by christmas all you aquilani bashers will be begging him to come back!

In all fairness. There are no Aquilani bashers, as you put it. Little was expected of him when he arrived, little was seen when he was fit and I think its fair to say little will be expected of him when he returns back to Liverpool, and of this I have no doubt, Juventus wont buy him.

Your obsession is bordering on offensive. I accept you rate Aquilani, thats fine.

We don't. You have to accept this also.

I think you need to read the Aquilani thread again. One of the last comments was "142 pages of comments on a guy who played 142 minutes and cost us millions in wages. WTF was Aqualani all about?"

And who is "we" that you're referring to? You think everyone else agrees with you? Well I don't, for a start. In my opinion, foreigner players should be given a second year to settle in, and if they don't cut it in their second season, then fair enough, sell or loan them out. I would have given Aquilani another chance this season, when hopefully, we would have seen a fully fit player playing to his capabilities. If he didn't come up to scratch, then fair enough, get rid of him.

I don't mind people disagreeing with me, because after all, it's all about opinions. However, it's apparent, sadly, that some people have a lack of tolerance of other people's opinions and attack them for it, and have been abusive at times, which is totally unnecessary. And don't say "we" as if you're assuming everyone else shares your opinion.

All I'm saying is there should be more respect for other people's opinions without having to be overly agressive about it, like this post I am quoting. Of course, my post will now be open to abuse.

I used to reply in threads like these, however, these days I don't, its full of the same amount of mindless argumentative tripe that aggravates people and leads to nothing.

Look above for my reply. The "we" being those who just don't see him being good enough for the club. The forum exists as people have differing opinions, but its not a case of yes or no anymore, its a case of, well, im going to prove you wrong, and I will go all out to prove you so.

All I'm saying is there should be more respect for other people's opinions without having to be overly agressive about it, like this post I am quoting. Of course, my post will now be open to abuse.

So what your saying is, we should give total respect to your views, while knocking everyone else's for the disrespect it deserves.

Look deeper into my response. I am not being abusive, I am stifling a stubborn stance.

See, that's the typical response I expected from you. Where did I say give total respect to my views and not others? Read it again -
"All I'm saying is there should be more respect for other people's opinions without having to be overly agressive about it."
It's really not difficult to understand. Nowhere in that statement did I say respect my views and not others.
And stifling a stubborn stance is showing disregard to someone else's opinion. I'm sure you're stubborn with your views, but does that mean someone should attack you for them? Think about it.

???

Where was I abusive? I think you will find, his views on Aquilani are fervently defended with abuse against people who disagree with them. I however, havent abused him.

look can we just put this to bed. Im just frustrated that aqua has gone over lets face it money. I think joe cole coming for 90 grand a week had a bearing on the decision. Either the board said if joe comes then u have to make cuts elsewhere. Or aqua was worried with cole coming might not guarantee him first team place week in week out. Anyhow im just pessed off that we have so many :censored: players that carnt do anything like babbel maxi lucas. Also he was seriously injured and coming to a much more physical league. He should of been given a chance at least till christmas then ship him out on loan in january. Now what do we have in terms of creativity not alot. Fine we have cole and stevie but where the hell is plan B when things arent going well or they get injured. We are gona struggle big time. Even having him on the bench with twenty minutes to go were gona miss that. But the only reason ulot dont like him is because he didnt get stuck in enough.

Check this vid out, its a compilation of his contribution in the portugal v cyprus game.

Raul Meireles - Portugal V Cyprus

His distribution in this video is excellent, much like a portugese Alonso!

I also noticed how good his first touch is. ( apart from that one slip up:D  )

That's it pick out the schoolboy error he made - not the deft first touch he has, not the quality array of passing, not his abiilty to simply take a man out of the game with a simple flick of the outside of his boot, not his shooting ability, or his ability to get in dangerous positions. :p

Unfortunately for Rocky and his love affair with Alberto, the truth of the matter is it doesn't really matter if the new bloke is sh!t, certainly not as far as the Italian is concerned. Aquilani wasn't up to it, that is the simple fact of the matter, and even if we'd signed Jimmy Bullard as his repacement it wouldn't alter it.

Meireles certainly has the game to do well in the prem - he has been chased by many of the top clubs for a number of years and we have done well to sign him - hopefully he settles quickly .

Too right. Infact, he HAS TO be man of the match against Birmingham otherwise he was a complete waste of money.
