Stand firm.  Nice to see us having some balls.  £25m is a lot of money.

He'll either go for 50 million or stay and do a Suarez, by signing a new deal and then leaving in 12 months time.

No way on earth he signs a new contract here, did you read what his agent said?

Not in footballing terms it's not, Infact its an insult, considering Sterling is only 20 and is already a star for England and is widely regarded as one of the best young talents in Europe City are taking the p1$$.

Madness to sell Sterling for less than we'd have to pay for Benteke.   50 million allows us to buy for example Benteke + a good contribution to a top class CM or replacement winger. 2 top players for Sterling - sell.

30 million is solid for an opening bid. I'm sure we'll be able to raise that to at least 40m, which is a lot more than what the little Sh*t is worth. I'm not liking this "Christian Benteke is our top target" thing though.

25-30 mill is a good valuation of his talent, considering his age. Anything more than that and the other side trying to get him seems desperate. I expect him to go for 30-35 mill and I really cant understand why some seem to think he's worth 50mill or even 40.

Our best bet is to look for a player+cash deal with one of the sides looking to buy him. He's been linked with City, Arsenal & Madrid as far as I can tell (he's not going to Utd). I'd look to get Jovetic, Walcott, and Isco(unlikely)/Illaramendi/Jese

He's only worth 50 because Man City are desperate to rebuild, the average age of their 26 man squad is 29.1 !! Spurs and Liverpool both bought 7-8 players at once and failed to integrate them, City should take heed and rebuild over 2-3 seasons before the team runs out of steam so Sterling as a first buy to maintain the speed of play makes sense. Plus he's English.

Same here.. I don't think benteke will cope with the pressure of playing for us. 32 mill? Crazy money these days. Suarez and Torres cost 20 mill each.

I hope we do get a nice sum off citeh but personally i think they have valued him righT. He is worth around 25.

LFC should hold out for 60M and compromise a deal for 50+add ons.
This transfer isn't only about RS, this is about the rest of our squad. For seasons now, we've preached the importance of buying top quality young players around the world. Our squad is extremely young and have experienced top flight domestic and international football. FSG must now show that their re-sell plan of action works, (albeit that RS was bought for peanuts, thanks to Rafa) otherwise we will become the laughing stock of world football. Important times ahead...

that was my point.
Stand firm and possibly get £40m. Not that I think he's worth £40m.

Exactly the reason why we must show strength in negotiations. Remember the ongoing re-signing saga of Tom Ince that never happened?
This will show squad players that no matter the desire to move, things aren't as simple. This transfer should heed warning to other young players who want to engineer a move with their agent.

I would sell him for 50m seeing that Man City are desperate to sign him.

But I wouldn't trust the committee or Rodgers with that money seeing that we are desperate to sign Benteke

We are not a selling club  :eyebrow

True mate, the way he's been playing lately he's probably worth about £5m but City are buying potential and most players are a lot, lot better at 25 than they are at 20, just look at the improvement in Hendo from 21 to 24.
It's a bit like us with Markovic, when you buy players at 20/21 you are paying extra for the player that they are going to be in the future as opposed to the player that they are now.
Anything under £40m and we will have been ripped off, City payed 30 odd for Mangala.
