Bad advice that Reg. Manic depressives such as yourself try your best to bring everyone down, but with determination you can be swerved, and people can be optimists.

You see when you get all depressed and tell all and sundry that the best we can hope for under these owners is mediocrity, I disagree. I AM POSITIVE, OPTIMISTIC that we can do a lot better than being neck and neck with Birmingham all season before finally getting the better of them. You might try and convince everyone that in actual fact it is unrealistic to expect to finish above Aston Villa, you would given your negative and depressive stance, but I don't agree because I AM POSITIVE AND OPTIMISTIC.

You probably buy into the depressives mantra that so far has our star fallen that Roy Hodgson would laugh at the prospect of managing us, Martin O' Neill would c0ck a snook (whatever the feck that is). Alex Mcgleish wouldn't even consider it, leaving the way open for the only two candidates on planet Earth who would apply, namely Neil Warnock and Glenn Roeder. I don't buy that at all, because I AM POSITIVE AND OPTIMISTIC that we are still a great football club who the premier managers in the World today would be falling over themselves to take on.

You might tell people that negativity and depressionis the only way, but for too long you and others like you have bleated on here about nasty people not agreeing with you. You and others cry in your beer if anyone dares to point out that we've actually got a good team, with good players. You dampen down any positivity by telling us we can forget about doing well, we are destined only for mid table mediocrity.

From today, I think it's time for us positivos to fight back. Shout it from the rooftops. We ARE A GOOD TEAM AND WE HAVE GOOD PLAYERS. We CAN CHALLENGE FOR THE TITLE NEXT SEASON, EVEN IF WE DON'T SIGN ANYBODY. IF WE DRAW READING IN THE FA CUP NEXT SEASON, AND MANAGE TO EEK OUT A DRAW AT THEIR PLACE, WE WILL BEAT THEM AT HOME, WE MIGHT EVEN WIN AT THEIR PLACE YOU NEVER KNOW. WE WON'T LOSE 15 TIMES IN THE SEASON, NOR WILL WE SPEND 20 MILLION QUID ANY MORE ON PLAYERS WE DON'T ACTUALLY WANT.

Shout it from the rooftops Fauxy and don't let the negativos drag you down, THINGS WILL GET BETTER.

How much did United pay for Hargreaves again (who hasn't played a single game for nearly two years by the way)? I don't hear Ferguson getting slated for paying so much for him, despite the fact that he had a dreadful injury history before joining United like Aquilani did at Roma.

Not to mention Berbatov (£30m), Anderson and Nani (£30m between them) and Carrick (£18m). Carrick isn't even a regular and has had a dreadful season, Nani has 1 good game in 5, Anderson is out on loan I think and Berbatov just isn't a United player.

Everyone wastes money. Unfortunately every mistake we make is magnified due to our perilous financial state. We're not in the position that the likes of United, Chelsea and City are in whereby if they get a major signing wrong (Shevchenko, Veron) they can just move them on and get somebody else in. Even when Rafa gets signings right (I still think Johnson will be worth the transfer fee we paid for him for example) he gets slated by our own fans for paying over the odds. He can't win.

Agreed in principle, however 3 Premierships, couple of domestic trophies, 1 European Cup (and one further European Cup final appearance) in the last 3 years sort of lets you off the hook a bit, just my opinion of course.

Well exactly. All very well getting uppety as some seem to be because people rightly say we threw money away/at Johnson, a player who Chelsea only paid West Ham £6m and Portsmouth only £4m yet we decided he was worth near double those fees combined in one throw when practically everyone but Rafa knows we need a second striker. Johnson may mature into a decent defender, I doubt he'll ever be a world class full-back and he is 25 so while that isn't old, it isn't that young either.

People are quick to say "we can't afford top players" but seem oblivious to the fact we can't afford to waste money either. I'm sure Rafa has convinced himself his players are worth more than they really are, I've yet to be convinced Aquilani was worth £20m and Rafa not playing him does nothing to make me think he ever will.

I am also yet to be convinced Aquilani was worth £20 million and the gaffer has not helped him prove this value by not playing him. Just read this Premier League article on Alberto Aquilani which claims he is the Worst Signings Of The Season. To be honest I dont think there can ben many fans, whether Liverpool fans or not, who can really disagree with him as we have simply not seen him play enough football to be able to make a judgment on his value.

If nobody can make a judgement on his value then how is he being named as the worst signing of the season

I think he is the worst signing of the season.

And thats nothing to do with his ability as a player.
I am not sure what he is like, so far he seems ok but nothing special.
Neat and tidy but doesnt do enough for me or take enough responsibility.

I mean the worst of the season in the contex of who he replaced and the fact that even when fit he has not been selected.
He cost alot of money however people want to break it down. And has nowhere near justified - even if it might not be his fault.

I would agree that he hasnt been a good signing but only for the reason that he hasnt featured for us and thats Rafa's fault not Aquilani's.

But even still I wouldnt put him down as worst signing of the season. For me, Lescott, Santa Cruz and Toure beat him to the no.1 worst signing spot.

They dont for me as you have to put it into the context of how the signing has impacted the team.
City have a good squad that can cope with these players not coming in and instantly doing well.
Our whole season has been ruined by the Aquilani signing.

The fact that we haven't seen so much of him contributes massively to his nomination of "worst signing of the season"................... Besides which, people seem happy enough with Johnson, regardless his cost he plays when available, and Kyrgiakos is appreciated, so who else is likely to be named "worst signing of the season" ?!?!? We pay £20m for a player we expect them to play.

What annoys me most about the Aquilani signing is we are supposedly strapped for cash, tight budget and all that, yet Rafa spends half our budget on a player who he then uses sparingly to say the least. At least with Keane last season he sold him back so minimised the costliness of the transfer.

But Lescott, Santa Cruz and Toure have all played very very poorly, you could say the same about them. If they had spent the money more wisely they may already be fourth, they may have already won something.

Also, Aquilani actually does look hopefull for the future because he has shown some glimpses of his talent in the few games he has played. Santa Cruz and Lescott just look like complete no hopers.

Agree to disagree? :D

I know you are a big fan mate but i am not having that any of those city players not performing have impacted them anywhere near as bad as we have been by losing Alonso and him being replaced with Aquilani.
Thats been the main reason we have struggled whereas city have improved considerably even with those players not performing.

Regardless of whether he is any good or not (and we all have our own views on that) for us to spunk 20 million quid on a player who the manager doesn't think gets into our first team was a horrific piece of business. Parry must be thanking his lucky stars he isn't around because as sure as eggs is eggs he'd have got the blame for it.
