I doubt Rafa was going to play him anyways but this is not encouraging news.  :no

for :censored: sake. Please ship him back home. What a waste of money. Should never have invested in an injured player, he's just turning out to be another Kewell/Rosicky. Oh how I wish we'd splashed out half that money on Cattermole instead :(

to be fair he was this bad before we signed him.

we knew of his chronic injuries before hand.

bad scouting, bad reccomendation or bad doctors, we dont know. One thing we do know is he hasn't been able to play about 10 games in a row with out getting injured for the past 4 years.

Someone somewhere really shoulda known better

I'm less concerned by the fact he's injury prone than I am by the fact that based on what he's shown so far, he is completely and utterly unsuited to English football. When fit he doesn't get into our best eleven and it seems like a really strange way of spending 20 million quid, particularly when we aren't exactly loaded.

Time will tell for sure of course, (and I know it's early and all that) but for me he is in the "awful buy" column I'm afraid. Not exactly Dossena (then again who is?) but certainly in a similar category.

As far as I am aware, we haven't paid 20M upfront for the guy...so until I hear or read otherwise, all talk of wasted 20M etc. is pure tripe.
I know somebody somewhere knows how the deal was structured, so at least the cash - or ALL of it - wasn't wasted. We might even break even.....That said, it is still a monumental phuck-up of epic proportions on Rafa's part. to have signed him in the first place...

i'm more worried about the persistent chronic  injuries/ illnesses tbh - rafa/the player himself have been saying all season hisa foot isn't full yrecovered - and now this possibly more serious relapse ???

- his record when playing in the english league is very good: 5 starts, 5 wins , a goal and 3 assists...

Thats rubbish! For the first two games he played he looked unsuited yes. But since then he has looked great. His first touch/passing and movement has been brilliant and he picked up man of the match against pourtsmouth.

The only reason i can see him be an 'awful buy' is if his injury problem's dont subside. If he stays fit and Rafa actually starts him more often I can see this guy turning out to be a great great player for us.

What has he done to make you think he is utterly unsuited to english football? seriously

Not up front... but that's what he'll cost us...

From earlier in this thread... Source AFC ROMA

Four cash installments:

* €5m upfront
* €3m by 4th January 2010
* €7m by June 30th 2010
* €5m by June 30th 2011.

Base transfer fee = €20m/£18m

Further Add ons include:

* €300k for every year Liverpool qualify for the CL from 2010/11 to 2014/15.

* €250k every time the player reaches 35 appearancs; 70 appearances; 105 appeances and then 140 appearances.

* €1m the first time Liverpool either wins the Premier League or Champions League by 30 June 2014.

* 5% of any future transfer fee paid to Roma.

-------------

It is wasted £20m - those installments will still have to be paid, and there's 5% of any future sale.
