Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I think it's far to early to say that Aquaman is going to be a great player for Liverpool. Yes he was excellent vs Pompey but let's not forget that Pompey were woeful that night. I agree with these on here that say he has to play every game when fit and well between now and the end of the season and he will be in Rafa's ear big time as he still harbours hopes of getting into the Italian squad for the WC. If Rafa is to throw caution to the wind and go for the top 4 spot then he has to play Aquaman.

Which is why I have to laugh when pundits have already called him a waste of money. He was brought for the next five years ffs. I don't hear them saying the same about Hargreaves at United and he's probably played less games than Aquilani in the last two years.

Absolutely. He has played 90 minutes in how many games this season? ???

That's right - ONE

I don't think we should've signed him as I think we could have got better value and more playing time from other midfielders who were moving in the summer. That being said he excites me and I really hope he gets a run of games to the end of the season.

Rafa doesnt have the balls of top coaches hence didnt put him in at United,

Was Aquilani fit? I think I read something about an injury

yes he was fully recovered... but only got the last 20 minutes.

In that case I agree he should have played 90 mins.

Anyway he would have been bullied by the Manchester United players, in that stadium the local players are able to play with aggressivity where as the opposition is not allowed to do it.

In that stadium Howard Webb can see a penalty, when he's only able to give 3 penalties a season.

nope he had a virus
he couldnt play well enough

it probably has something to do with the fact that we were in this situation last seasons too with Robbie Keane.

For the last 2 seasons Rafa's big money buys have been awful

He'll be gone soon after Rafa keeps benching him and playing him out of position anyways...

its depressing tho Daws...a 20 million poud player should be helping us challenge for the title! not fecking warming the bench and making cameo appearances.  :(

rafa bought him when he was injured and when someone is injured it takes them a long time to make a come back

look at gerrard, hes not at his best now and he's coming back from an injury

when ur injured your out of form and against portsmith, aquilini was in form and you can tell how much damage he did

he got a virus 2 days before his match against Man U and couldnt play

Now against Sunderland, you will see Aquilini play a lot

i hope so, i would love nothing more than to see him play 90 mins from now until the end of the season and show what a great player he can be.

However, my head tells me he will make 4 or 5 more starts this season and be sold for a huge loss in the summer.  :(

What makes you think that?

He has looked class in the games he's featured in

Surely he has to start on sunday.

Comeon Rafa you must realise we just need to win all our games now. The time for caution has gone.

Aquilani probably has a.rse cramp from sitting on the bench all season ???
