Against Portsmouth playing out of position he was on the scoresheet and again against Utd with a vital goal. It was just one of those days, unfortunatley the same can be said for almost all our players last night. But next year you can be sure Insua will be in the squad for Europe. I know he is young but I am really happy at the way he has come through. Haven't seen him get stuck in tackling wise but he can hold his own in terms of physical movement in the way he gets forward at times. He's a keeper. If we can add some shooting to his game he will be a monster.

i really dont think we need to look for a leftback, with auerillo and insua we have two very good options imo, auerillo was poor lastnight but as youve mentioned hes been impressive for most of this season, in a way it will help insua progress being number 2 behind him because auerillo is never gonna play 50 60 games a season ans insua will get plenty of game time to develope
as for the shooting thing although he isnt as technically gifted as fabio he does has a great left peg and has hit the woodwork a few times from distance in the reserves

for me if we can get a similar young understudy to arebola on the otherside were sorted at fullback positions

Totally agree. My only concern is Fabio can be somewhat injury prone. I don't think Dossena is the answer but who knows if Barry comes in and we end up in a mess he can always cover but I agree Insua is definatley part of the 1st team now.

He should be 1st choice for us. Aurelio is good sometimes but his form can be patchy not to mention he is injury prone.

Have to disagree there.

I've never been Aurelio's biggest fan, but he's won me over this season by consistently doing a very good job.  I think he's a better player than Insua at the moment, but that might change over the next few years.

consistently?

I think that consistensy was well and truley broken against Chelsea. It was his poor pass which started to allow Drogba his first chance of the game. I think he is good but Insua should be groomed to be our number 1.

playing bad in one game does not make you inconsistent all of a sudden

They probably didn't expect him to settle in the first team so soon. Does he have a song yet?

Insua is a far better LB than Aurelio already which to be fair doesn't take too much, if people disagree can they tell me how Aurelio is better?

In my opinion he's better at tackling, has better positional sense, far better crosser of the ball, quicker and has better vision, absolute star, why the hell is he not playing every game, the same goes for agger, he offers so much more than Skittles and I'm not just referring to him coming forward and creating moves I think he's better defensively as well.

Aurelio is a better passer, a better header, has a better shot, is better at watching the line, creates more chances and possesses a better footballing brain. Oh, and he can hit a sterling freekick as well.

Aside from that, you're absolutely right...

However, I do believe that Insua has every chance of becoming Aurelio's long-term replacement, and he has certainly showed enough to suggest that he will improve with experience. After all - Fabio IS 30 this year.
