In my opinion he's better at tackling, has better positional sense, far better crosser of the ball, quicker and has better vision, absolute star, why the hell is he not playing every game, the same goes for agger, he offers so much more than Skittles and I'm not just referring to him coming forward and creating moves I think he's better defensively as well.

Aurelio is a better passer, a better header, has a better shot, is better at watching the line, creates more chances and possesses a better footballing brain. Oh, and he can hit a sterling freekick as well.

Aside from that, you're absolutely right...

However, I do believe that Insua has every chance of becoming Aurelio's long-term replacement, and he has certainly showed enough to suggest that he will improve with experience. After all - Fabio IS 30 this year.

I think insua is better all round tbh thats just how I see it he is as good if not little better and has how many years on him ? 9 is it ?

Wow you didn't insult me or call me a name, what a genuinly nice change. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree Lando. Aurelio has been playing very well lately, I freely admit that but aganst Cheslea he showed the kind of from which freaks me out about him, every so often he has a bad patch and when he's bad he's very very bad.
I genuinly see a lot more already from Insua and think he is better at almost everything, I didn't see him have to make a header today but can't see why he'd be bad at it. What I did see was plenty of pace, good passing and fantastic crosses. You mention Aurelio's freekicks but you must be forgetting all the the times he's taken a freekick and he's been bloody miles off target, a few which go in does not compensate for the all the wild misses and likewise recent good form doesn't compensate for very indifferent form earlier in the season.
Insua is in my opinion the answer to our LB problem not just for the future but already now.

In any case we can all hopefully agree that Dossa needs to go, or perhaps be used as a defensive left midfielder.

Aurelio is more experienced but I think Insua has the potential to become our 1st choice LB and expect him to challange him for that position next season.

The kid will be a massive asset to us in the future. The ball he put in that Dirk should have buried was world class.

Anyone know if he might be picked in the squad for Argentina for the world cup? JoeTerp you might know this. He must love it here at this club, playing with his country captain.

I wouldn't think it is out of the question. Left back isn't the strongest position in the Argie camp right now, and he was the U20 captain.  But I don't think he has been called up to any training camps, and he  DID NOT travel with Mascherano to the Olympics and that was an U23 tournament where Real Betis left back Fabián Monzón was preferred.

In the full side, he has Heinze and Emiliano Papa of Velez Sarsfield in his way at the left back slot as well.  But Maradona loves Mascherano so I hopefully Mascherano will put in a good word for him, and if he keeps playing like he did today, he would have to be in the squad. But that is probably not a good thing for Liverpool; more players leaving on trips to go halfway around the world

Insua is first class, if he isnt good enough to unseat Fabio who is in his twilight years then we should sell the lad tomorrow 8.00 a.m.

The balls in his court and so far, he looks a cracking prospect for the future.

Great game for the lad , has settled so well and surely next season will be pushing for the left back slot . Now we just need to sort out the wings , a right back and another forward

Watched the game on Sky and have seen the highlihts twice... He had a belting game, up and down the touch like causing havoc. What impresses me most though is his positional play, in attack but more importantly in defence, he looks solid and dependable. Pops up in the right places at the right time which shows he reads the game well. He realy helped Reira out yesterday as he was having a bit of a bad day and his input kpt giving him chance to rectify it. Their link up play for the Insua cross and Kuyt header was fantastic, and what a ball, if he can keep putting balls in the box like that then he wll push passed Aurellio, who I feel has played very well in recent weeks (bar chelsea).

He looks like he could come very good for us. I like these plucky Argies... Masch was fantastic again.

Shame he's not in the champs league squad...

Riera had a bad day? I thought he was excellent yesterday, especially after a poor showing on Wednesday night.

He had a lot of possesion but seemed to waist it. All I meant was he doesn't seem on top form, I don't see him running at peopple and trying to beat them and Insua helped him out yesterday because he overlapped well and was good in possesion using it well either cutting inside and laying balls off or going on the outside and whipping balls in. Reira's excecution wasn't as good as it can be he waisted good opportunities IMO. Hope he is back to his best on Tuesday.

Yeah he was a bit wasteful in posession especially in the final 3rd. He did perform better than in the Chelsea game but then again Chelsea and Blackburn are 2 different teams in terms of quality.

Insua looks a real prospect and about time we had a young boy come through - we aren't really seeing the youth and reserve teams produce many potential 1st team players...yet!
