He should have started, we need people out on the pitch that have something to prove, something to play for.  You could see as soon as he came on he was up for the game and wanted to impact the match.  I think had we put Kelly at RB Masch/Aqui in the middle Kuyt on the right and Stevie in the hole we would have played much better.  Rafa is overcomplicating things once again and he's changing the lineups far too much.  I would bench Stevie on thursday as well tbh.  Put Aqua in the hole instead.

Just remembered the ESPN commentator during the Wigan game went as far as linking Aquaboy with Juve at the end of the season 'for somewhat less than Liverpool paid for him'.

By rights the players who started against wigan who should be dropped for the portsmouth game should be:

Insua
Lucas
Gerrard
Kuyt

The rest should be on a warning to pull their finger out or be prepared to be dropped

... another game another nice warm banch seat for our £20m midfield man

what excuse was it this time i wonder?

Liverpools last 6 games: 0 starts, 4 minutes against man city, 21 minutes against Wigan.

25 minutes in the last 6 games.

Some facts:

Aquilani has started 4 league games for Liverpool:

His 1st start was a 2-0 victory against wolves on 26 dec

His 2nd start was a 1-0 victory against villa on 29 dec

His 3rd start was a 3-0 victory against spurs on 20 Jan

His 4th start was a 2-0 victory against Bolton on 30 January.

Aquilani record 4 starts, 4 wins.

Hardly a panic buy. Rafa had him earmarked early on as Alonso's replacement (for want of a better word). His actions since though haven't been of a man confident he made the right choice.

From my point of view, even if he has looked a bit dodgy in previous games, against Wigan he was one of the few to show enthusiasm and positive play so why he didn't get a game against Lille is particularly baffling. I actually think with the right management there's a decent chance he'd make a good enough contribution to the team but if he isn't given enough games then that can never ever happen. Moreover, given the way our midfield is functioning, there isn't much to lose.

If this is the only appearance clause in the contract then it's quite clear that Rafa's decision to bench him isn't based on any financial restrictions pertaining to the contract.

I can see Aquilani being sold back to an Italian club in the summer. If he isn't going to play for us then he should be sold.

Rafa dont rate him, he got it wrong.
once the guy was fit Rafa took his firts look at him and said to himself "oh :censored:"

as for us fans we cant make our mind up if he is a good player or not as he has not been given to chance to show us what he is like, he would need 5 full games on the trot to show us that.
