finally watched the rest of district 9 last night. i'd watched the first 30 minutes or so a couple of weeks back but we turned it off becuase me bird was really hating it. to be honest i wasn't that impressed myself - the dialogue was a bit stilted, the accent badly annoying, the acting suspect, and the overall premise a bit obvious.

i thought i'd give it a chance though and i'm fecking glad i did. it turns into one of the best sci-fi gore-fest, shoot 'em up, robot powered, crashy space ship, freaky gang, bonkers weapons mash-ups i've ever seen. it had me laughing out loud a few times with the sheer originality in ways they found to kill people. i need to watch it again to see if i imagined the bit where the robot suit thing sucks up a pig and then fires it back at the marines or not.

it's a cool mix of all the dystopian sci-fi 'alien fear' type movies with the best bits of cronenberg and 'tetsuo the iron man' all thrown in. loved it.

I am surprised you didn't like The men who stare at goats. I thought it was a good story with a few good laughs (not that many)a bit like 3 Kings. The only thing apart from the ending I didn't like was Euan McGregor.......what a cr@p actor he is.

I really enjoyed Men Who Stare at Goats . I found it full of some farcically amusing lines and situations.

OK, I wasn't bursting with laughter but certainly found myself chuckling at stuff throughout virtually the entire movie.

Yeah I gave it a 7/10 Woof. What did you think of the ending though ? I felt let down as I expected a big finish to the movie, and it just seemed to me as if they couldn't think of one.

What about the other movies Saint you seen them?

I watched 'The Book of Eli' with Denzel Washington, good movie really enjoyed it. But the ending was a let down I thought.

Have to admit the ending was very disappointing, I was expecting maybe a 15 minute frantically farcical finale , instead of the sudden whimper of an ending that was offered.

It was almost as though they had no more script/money/time to run with so just wrapped it up and went home.  :(

Great film Stmike, if you liked that, you should try the Illusionist. I actually preferred the Illusionist to The Prestige, but both were excellent films.

Just got Sherlockholmes, lovely bones and already had Harry Brown. I will watch one of those tonight mate...... think I will give M.O.T.D a miss tonight.

All three are good Saint for different reasons, little tip, give M.O.T.D a miss.  :;):

Watched Sherlock Holmes and Harry Brown last night mate. Both good films but I preferred Harry Brown.

Thought Harry Brown was a cracker with a good (if obvious) ending. They always worry me in case they spoil the film trying to too clever in these type of films.

Thought Sherlock Holmes was let down a bit by the ending, all that :censored: about pouring fuel over the bloke who went up in flames....... how did they know he was going to shoot ? I thought Downey did a tremendous job with the English accent.

Some good effects especially during the fight scenes and at the end with the city of London.

Harry Brown 7.5/10
Sherlock Holmes 6.5/10 (would have been a 7 but for the ending)
