Cut this lad some slack guys.

He still needs time. And honestly i thought he didnt do too badly today other than that miss.

We can all see that he has quality.. he just needs to get used to the english game.

If anything, stick the boot into Rafa for not playing him as often as he should. The lad needs games FFS.

Who said he's a waste of 20 million?

Read a few notes with such connotations. Not just on here either.

I think it's far too early to judge, he hasn't had time to prove anything yet.  But I don't think his early performances have been anything special either.  That's not a criticism just a fact.

A £20 million Crock....another of rafa's failed gambles...overated, and not fit to Lace the boots of Alonso. :no

I dont know whether he'll have the time. It was a gamble to begin with and hes been thrown in at the deep end with a team on its knees. People are expecting 20 million pounds worth of saviour and its too much to ask of anyone. Especially a rookie who is playing alongside sh'ite

It's early but feck it, I'm seriously p!ssed off.

This was Reading and he must surely be close-ish to being fully fit by now. If this is only a 70% Aquilani it isn't nearly enough.

I was expecting a bit of dominance from our midfield today and we got more of the same...airy fairyfeckallness. Yes he has obvious passing ability, a good first touch, likes to go for the one twos etc... but I'm not at all convinced that makes up for his weaknesses in the getting-stuck-in department. It's not just the tackles either I don't think, it's the physical package as a whole.

This isn't me writing him off but feck me we need more.

Not all midfielders are tacklers. If he had mascherano there he might play better?

He started brightly and played some nice passes, he's definately an intelligent player with the ball at his feet. Having said he's a nice passer of the ball, that includes setting Reading up for some dangerous counter attacks.

The guy doesn't fancy a tackle neither and looks pretty lazy tracking back, had Mascharano been next to him I think he would of looked better complimented.

Overall and going by what I've seen from him, I think he's going to struggle and could be another nail in the coffin for senior Benitez.

Mate, the same can be said for the whole team tonight, and I mean every single one of them. Degen, OMFG! How he got a pro footballing contract is well beyond me. Rafa needs to seriously shake his head at that one. A youngster from the reserves would have sufficed.

Certainly, but he still has to have enough in his locker to be able to execute the prettier stuff. He can't just stand there and wait for Masch to up-end anyone who gets near him.

And that will come with time
He has had to hit the ground running with his shoelaces tied together.

It can, mate. I 've just had a sense since the Wolves game that he is a bit of a soft touch. No doubt our general sh!tness is influencing my opinion right now but that's the way it is.

You said it 3 games.....the season is 2 thirds over and he has played in only 3 games!!.....yeah a great investment and replacement for Alonso?.......well done Rafa!....I  have a solution for paying off Rafa....sell Aqualani back to Roma for £20 million, then pay off Rafa's contract and fukk him off!.....mind you Aqualani has probably lost £10 mill on his sell on value ha! ???
