I'm looking forward to the third season of True Blood.  My wife got me into it, I watched the first season and then I read the books (series of 9), the show itself is pretty effed up, not a bad watch though.  Definitely make sure the kiddies are out of the room when that show is on though.

The Road

Wasn't sure what to make of this to be honest. For a post apocalyptic scenario, I suppose it's fairly realistic in it's narrative, but it felt really shallow in most parts. There were a few interesting - if not grim - concepts being touched on such as canibalism, which is probably what would go on should something (and it's not clear what really happened) like an end of the world event ever take place. It's not a bad watch, but for me it just didn't have that much depth to it. Disappointed. Oh, and ever there were to be a Fallout film to be made, this would be the closest thing to it. The tone just reminded me so much of that game.

Was really looking forward to it myself EM. Watched it last night.

Kept wondering where is this tale going ?, let's face it, we've all seen "post apocylaptic" movies before, when the credits came up my question was answered. Storywise this went absolutely Nowhere !.

Honestly saw it as a pointless excercise other than that the dvd will hit the supermaket shelves soon and the "producers" with a bit of hype will make some money.

Popcorn rating

maybe a film like the road should be seen on the big screen. Its about the emotions of the characters, its is more about what is not said than what is said...

Best movie this week

i'm not sure whether the road should have been turned into a movie at all really. my girlfriend just finished reading the book and was deeply moved by it, she said it was one of the toughest things she's ever read (and she reads a lot). its the relationship between the man and the boy, and its subtle shifts as they walk through the post apocalyptic landscape, that is the focus of the story. the fact is though that nothing really happens... its in more of an existentialist, slightly nihilistic vein. not the best movie material.
