Fact that many here seem to think that he hasnt been that bad this season just goes on to show how terrible we'v been so far...

Get rid of him, Skrtel, Kuyt, Dossena, Babel, Voronin, and some of the other craap and bring in some players with flair and pace ...

personally since Mascherano has been out he has looked a different player..

perhaps he might come good if Masch were to leave to Barca???

Other than that he has no attribute that sticks out.

This is like saying Torres is good at scoring goals, other than that, he has no other attributes that stick out.

Lucas tried hard but he just isn't good enough for us. For Rafa to continue to play him is a big mistake. I was supporting Rafa fully but his stubborness has now reached its boiling point. If Lucas is to play his current role, we will not make top 4. Lucas had played and started alot this season but i never see him take charge and done something with the ball. Passing sideway and backward doesn't help us in any way offensively. With Lucas and Aquilani so far back looking to get rid of the ball eagerly, there were no one to support Gerrard and Torres when attacking. Anyway, I had said before the season started that will anyone let this season slide to proof the point that Lucas is Shlt. I rest my case.

The fact that hes looking a bit better this season only shows to me how much we are underperforming.

To be honest if he came to Anfield with say Bolton he would be anonymous
hes an average player, whos lucky hes playing for a manager who hasnte got a fk clue.

Are you forgetting some of his performances last season, especially the one at OT when we battered them? Arguably MoTM in that game too.

i thought he was man of the match against Reading..  I think he has improved loads of late and although I dont think he will ever be the best midfielder in the world the lad is fighting every game and looking like he wants to play for Liverpool Football Club.

Its a shame you cant say that about most of our squad of late!

Give the lad a break, if he continues to improve as he has lately we may have a decent player here
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

we seem to have a very bored child on the boards
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Wasnt sure at first, but obviously you're on a wind up. **awaits to hear another peripheral figure Nigel Spackman was arguably mOtm in the 5-0 win over Forest in '88**... (or was it Gary Ablett???)

**Stephan Gui'varch was arguably mOtm when France beat Brazil in the 1998 World Cup final**

**Josemi was at right back in our 3-1 win over Olympiakos (i know he was as you can see him run away celebrating when Gerrard scores) and the scruffy Spaniard was arguably mOtm**

Its called "inspite of not because of"

What was remarkable at the Old Trafford game was that although ManU dominated central midfield with 56% possession, we bypassed the midfield by playing long ball which came off for us on the day....

1st goal - Skrtel 70 yard clearance Vidic fcked up, Torres scores
2nd goal - Gerrard ran with ball from midfield, one two with Torres, Penalty.. Gerrard scores
3rd goal - kuyt pass to Gerrard who Vidic rips down, sent off, Free kick... Aurelio scores
4th goal- Reina 70 yard goal kick which Dossena gets on the end of.

So... although we lost central midfield, and missed the poise and control of Alonso, our direct long ball style (for once) worked beautifully on the day.

This season vs ManU we played a shadow version, one whom 3rd tier Leeds tore apart on Sunday, and while ManU had 57% possession against us, they had no cutting edge with no Ronaldo or Tevez... and our graft (Masch chasing everything that moved), phenomenal atmosphere of the home fans which whiskey nose commented on, and a wonderful slice pass between two defenders from Benayoun for Torres to break the deadlock, when nothing was happening. As the media reported, it wasn't a pretty performance like all our games this season, but it came off.

When analysing a player, if after 2 and a half years you can count the number of contributions on one hand (goal vs Havent and Waterlooville, pass at St James Park, pass to Ngog, shot at Woodison Neville saved with hand, scuffed shot deflected vs chelsea)... from a quote "box to box goalscoring midfielder"... it pretty much sums up how diabolical he is.

Hes actually MINUS this season... played 26, 1 assist, 0 goals.. no passing range, powder puff player.. and an OG at a crucial period at home to Villa.

His "nothingness" had been devastating for the team, the massive downgrade from Alonso to lucas has shaken the rest of the team, in the most important position on the field, slap bang in the center.
