ALBERTO AQUILANI - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Thought he was absolutely class tonight. That kick he did in the area was sublime, really unlucky it hit the guys hands  ???

And that pass he did made me cream myself.

I was a little dissapointed that Rafa played him a bit deep to be honest but I just cant wait to see this guy play for us next.

Normally I wait 5 games to have an opinion but Aquilani obviously knows to pass. It's yet to be seen if he reads games as well as Alonso, but definitely for that role Bigmick asked, the one about mobility and getting the ball higher on the pitch, this player might be more suited than the Spaniard.

And all this after three or four things I've seen :D, I know it's an overreaction but I was really impressed to see his quality on first glance.

We well see if he produces it as I was answered in the match thread, but he looks good.

well now we only have Gerrard and Riera to return and we might actually start a good assault on this league

COME ON LIVERPOOL!
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Lets not get carried away , but in just 20 mins ,you could see the quality .Would of had a goal aswell if it wasn't for senderos's beach volleyball antics.

So we got a wee snapshot of Alberto tonight, and what's the verdict?

Well, there were little bits and bobs of class which filled you with anticipation of whats to come. There was one raking pass from the centre to the inside right slot which had Xabi written all over it, flat in trajectory and hit with pace, but feathered onto Deggens right foot. There was little juggle and reverse lay off down by our right full back slot, as well as an overhead volley which was arguably unlucky not to bring a penalty. The fella can obviously play, there's no doubt about that, but can he produce it in England?

Well on first impressions, he has a bit of mobility about him and gets areound well. He that bit of "glide" about him where I think he's quicker than he looks, he sort of flows around. Like most Italians he knows how to foul as his pull on Nasri proved, and just about my only criticism was that he kind of pulled out of a 50/50 as the ball bounced around, but I reckon it was probably that he was easing his way back in. He also sat a lot deeper than I imagined he would from reports, but that's probably the same reason and also his instructions on the night.

I'm very hopeful having seen that, a good debut.

Sorry mods, you can stick this in the "official" thread, I wasn't thinking. Sorry again.

Im getting carried away here but I reckon he will be better use for us than Alonso.

He just really looks confident on the ball and even under pressure he somehow manages to get a really nice pass/shot away.

What was more promising about this guy is that he was on the pitch for less than 15 minutes but he changed the game. I really wish he had scored  :(

I wonder with his eyes being that close together if he'd get double vision alot.

He does look like a decent footballer though from the very little I've seen, fingers crossed.

Looked boss tonight. I wouldn't expect him to start on Saturday but he should be able to play some of the 2nd half.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.
