FFS Rafa doesnt have a crystal ball .

If Chelsea and Man Utd lost 6 plus first teamers they would be fecked as well .

You playing on it too much they ain't all been injured at the same time have they ? Some here some there 1 game quite a few was out.But like I said you have to plan for them IE not have another 6 top players cost 200 mil as you put it "gulp".Just 1 or 2 good players who can fill gaps would help.1 of those players u adding to those numbers was bought injured so we just covering ground that has been done to death on here.

Well just like there has been some ridiculous over-reaction to four defeats on the bounce, I suppose it was only natural that we'd get the same in the opposite corner if we beat the Mancs. It was a fine performance too, based on a grit and determination which has been somewhat lacking recently.

It doesn't unfortunately mean that those who have had doubts over the last few weeks are a bunch of numpties, but at least it does mean that those who were calling for the managers head on a plate as of now won't get their wish. That wouldn't have served anybody well, and the manager deserves to get at the very least until the end of this season to see where we going.

The reality is of course that four losses didn't change much, and nor does one victory. The parameters for success or failure remain the same. Liverpool football club, and therefore the person who is charged with the job of managing it, must win trophies. Having spent the amount of money that we have in comparison to everybody else, and given the fact that we finished within four points of the top last season, we need to challenge for the title. It doesn't mean we have to win it, but we have to have a decent go at it. Beating the Mancs didn't change that, it merely made it a bit more likely that we might achieve it. It also highlighted the absolutely indisputeable fact that they are nowhere near as strong a team as last season (as they wouldn't be) having replaced Tevez with Owen, and of course Ronaldo with Valencia. At the very least we ought to be able to make a decent fist of finishing above them I should think.

One argument that such a good performance does expose as being nonsense of course is the notion that we can't possibly compete with these top teams. Whether it be because we are either a) outgunned financially b) stymied by boardroom shenanighans or c) simply not good enough it doesn't matter, all three prongs of the arguement are incorrect.

We are at least the equal of the Manchester United team which took the field at Anfield, and much the better team when Gerrard plays. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever as far as i can see that we shouldn't set our aim at the very least of finishing above them this season. That's sometimes the trouble with excuses, you wheel them out when you need them but on the occasions that you don't, they're shown up for being nonsense.

Rafa takes the flak on here when we lose, so it's only right he gets the credit when we win.

He got the big decisions right - doubling up Aurelio and Insua to contain Valencia (who was their main threat on the day), playing Torres from the off (he has since admitted that was a last minute decision on the team bus on the way to the ground!), the centre back pairing hit it off and allowing Benayoun and Kuyt to interchange freely gave us a nice fluency I thought.  I wasn't sure about taking Torres off when he did because I thought it would invite pressure, it did, but the sub capitalised on them pouring forward by sticking in the second.  He therefore got every big decision right on the day and fair play to him.

Unfortunately so, but there's no reason why we can't have a run at it at least. For a while there it was looking decidedly dodgy for the old top four slot, and while we're not now certainties after winning one game, we're certainly a better spot than we would have been had we lost it.

Well, I for one will be well fecked off if we don't play our best eleven on Wednesday. I think we can all agree the leagues gone and CL qualification aint going to happen so at least we can redeem the season by winning a trophy.

No soft lad we can't all agree the league has gone. So that's silly even suggesting we can.
