Sick of real - Comments about gerrard by perez

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I'm getting sick to the back teeth of Real and their mouthy president, all they do is blow their own trumpet about how 'famous' they are

I got this off the Skysports website:

Real Madrid are reportedly ready to launch a January bid for Steven Gerrard after president Florentino Perez admitted he was a player whom he admired.

The Spanish giants missed out on Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira in the summer and now look to have earmarked his Liverpool counterpart as a potential target.

Gerrard has been in imperious form for the Merseyside outfit this term and his performances have clearly not gone unnoticed on the continent.

''Steven Gerrard is a player I really like, he is the type of player who would suit the famous shirt of Real Madrid,'' Perez told the Sunday Mirror.

The Anfield favourite was on the verge of a move to free-spending Chelsea in the pre-season but a late change of heart resulted in his prolonged stay with Rafa Benitez's new look side.

Gerrard was on target against West Brom on Saturday, netting his fourth goal of what has been an impressive campaign for the England man.

Madrid have already enlisted the services of three of Sven Goran Eriksson's England set-up, with Jonathan Woodgate and Michael Owen having joined David Beckham in the capital.

The thing about Real is that this sort of speculation means absolutely nothing to anyone anymore.  Most people I know are sick to death of hearing 'real are reportably considering the possibility of a bid for 'insert player name here ____'.  No one really cares anymore, its just like in Champ manager you lose credibility if you keep reporting an interest in a player.

I reckone he won't be going.  During the transfer window real were linked with Ronhaldino, Pavel Nedved, Thierry Henry, Didier Drogba, Cisse, Alonso, Vieira, Gerrard, Kakka, Schvenchko, Terry, Aimar, Ayala, Rooney, Baros, Ronaldo (the portugese one), Deco, Giuly, Van Nistelrooy, Emerson (Roma's) and Totti.

Their signings of Samuel, Owen and Woodgate weren't even thrown into the mix until virtually the day before they signed.

If an interest in Gerrard is being reported this far away he won't be leaving.

Real need to be gagged.. speculation is one thing but when officials start saying unsettling things than it's worrying... I hope LFC remain steadfast and refuse to sell.. SG has said he'll stay but things can change as we know... :(

Real admit Gerrard interest

Gerrard in Reds admission
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has hinted at a move for Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.
The Spanish giants failed to tempt Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira to the Bernabeu during the summer.

But it appears they may now turn to Gerrard, who admitted being close to a move from Anfield in the close season.

Perez told the Sunday Mirror: "Steven Gerrard is a player I really like, he is the type of player who would suit the famous shirt of Real Madrid."

The 24-year-old Gerrard recently revealed he was close to leaving before new Reds boss Rafael Benitez persuaded him to stay.

Chelsea were known to be interested but Gerrard said there were "three or four good clubs" interested in him.

And reports say Real will make a move for Gerrard when the transfer window opens in January.

Should Gerrard move to the Bernabeu he will again link up with former Anfield star Michael Owen, who made the move to Spain in August, and England team-mates Jonathan Woodgate and David Beckham.

Beckham scored the winning goal for Real in their 1-0 win over Numancia on Saturday.

The England skipper scored with a free-kick to hand Real a second straight victory to start the season.

I'm just sick of Real Madrid full stop. Every time someone uses the word 'galactico' they should be hit round the head with a baseball bat. It's aversion therapy.

Did you catch Footy Focus on Saturday, there was an interesting interview with the ex-Real centre half Heirro. He was asked about the "Galacticos", and he laughed before replying that it was simply a term that the press invented and no one at Madrid used the word or felt that they where ever one.

Is Beckham classed as one over here then? If so, surely the term is about more than football, and in some cases has very little to DO with football. ???

You're probably right St.Michael.

It had probably more to do with footballing ability rather than glamour at first, but that would have changed when Beckham arrived.

Beckham was once a very good player, and although he scored a good goal at the weekend for Real, his best days are long behind him.

I think that had Benitez stayed at Valencia they would probably have won La Liga again and would have been a good bet for the Champions League.

I think Ranieri is a flawed coach and Valencia won't win the league this season.

Madrid still have a gaping hole in centre midfield........................ :(  :(
