SIR ALEX FERGUSON TO SNAP UP DAVID SILVA

Sir Alex Ferguson will soften the blow of Cristiano Ronaldo's £80 million sale to Real Madrid by snapping up Valencia star David Silva.

I understand Manchester United boss Ferguson has urged his chief executive David Gill to tie up a £24million deal having tracked the 23-year-old Spain winger all season.

Silva topped United's hit-list even BEFORE Ronaldo was given permission to join Madrid last week. United's scouts have watched Silva since December and Fergie has been impressed with the feedback on a versatile player who can play on either flank or as a second striker.

Hope we don't spend something like 16 million on him.

Tevez talks to begin

Talks with clubs from England, Spain and Italy to open on Monday

Sky Sports News understands that talks will begin with all interested parties hoping to sign Carlos Tevez on Monday and Tuesday.

Representatives of the Argentina striker will hold discussions with four clubs in the Premier League - Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea.

Reports also suggest that one club in Italy and one in Spain are interested, although the Primera Liga side is not thought to be Real Madrid.

It is understood that Tevez himself will announce that he would prefer to stay in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old joined United on loan in 2007, but that deal expires at the end of June and speculation has suggested that the forward is ready to turn his back on Old Trafford.

Conjecture has implied that Tevez could view City as his preferred destination, with rumour suggesting the Eastlands outfit are prepared to offer a deal worth in the region of £140,000-a-week.

if we spend £16m wouldnt that make him our 'big money' signing this summer? We certainly won't be able to afford Tevez as well

I don't think we can afford Tevez anyway. His wage demands are over inflated.

We're competing against some pretty big (and rich) clubs for Tevez and I honestly think we might be priced out of the market for him.

SPAIN: Valencia striker David Villa is set to choose between moves to either Real Madrid and Barcelona. Real are offering Valencia 30m euros plus Alvaro Negredo, while Barça are willing to fork out 35m - Valencia have set their price at 45m.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is making a British record £45m bid for Valencia striker David Villa. Ferguson will take on Real Madrid for the signature of the Spanish star who will be sold by his cash-strapped club.

Rafa Benitez has made a £6m offer for Real Madrid's Alvaro Negredo but faces competition from Valencia. Cash-strapped Valencia want Negredo, 23, to be part of any deal for striker David Villa, who is a £35m target for Real.

I reckon Villa will remain in Spain so the Mancs offer wouldnt worry me and, didnt Silva turn down Man U last summer, anyone know the reason why? Cant see him having a change of heart all of a sudden
