Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

Even if Bayern stick to their guns on the asking price then that would mean Boswinga + 75Mil. Ribery is a good player but I doubt Chelsea would stump up that much cash. Plus I think the player himself was quoted as saying he doesnt want to come to England because the weather is similar to Germany.

It wouldnt work having a father-son partnership, God's lost his sharpness now, I'd pay 17 million for Jesus, stick him on the wing as you say as he might be flashy but he's not as good as Nando.   :eyebrow

SIR ALEX WANTS TORRES TO BE THE NEW RONALDO

TORRES DE FORCE: The striker is now on United's wishlist
Sunday June 14,2009
By John Richardson  Have your say(0)
SIR ALEX FERGUSON is planning an audacious raid on Liverpool for Kop striking hero Fernando Torres.

Armed with the £80 million windfall from Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Real Madrid, the Manchester United boss is determined to make his own impact in a transfer market which is becoming bloated with money from the big clubs.

Liverpool hitman Torres is the shock target, as Sir Alex knows that a bid of around £40m would have to be seriously considered by United’s title rivals who have severe cash problems.

If Ferguson could pull off the coup, it would be a slap in the face for Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez, who was involved in a war of words with the Scot during the second half of the season.

Liverpool, who paid £20m to bring Torres from Atletico Madrid, would fight tooth and nail to hang on to the Spaniard but a British transfer record offer would give the Anfield boardroom serious food for thought.

Obviously the idea is a non-starter, but FFS 40 million?!?  How the hell could that be considered tempting?  Even if it was club not named Manchester United, only bids in excess of 90M could be considered in this market.

For Liverpool to accept an offer for Torres from Manchester United the bid would have to be 3-4 BILLION pounds or whatever it would take to completely sink their club, allow us to pay off all the debt, pay for the stadium in cash, and then buy a Rafa World XXII.

latest rumour I'm hearing is straight swap etoo for mascherano?

I must admit it is very tempting... torres + etoo = best strike force in the world full stop... but only thing is etoo must himself be willing to play for us... there are so many occasions where players were put in as leverage and they end up not having the passion and heart to play for their new clubs...

looks like we could def miss out on davis silva if this rumour is to be believed from the people:

SIR ALEX FERGUSON TO SNAP UP DAVID SILVA
Fergie in Silva bid
Steve Bates
Sir Alex Ferguson will soften the blow of Cristiano Ronaldo's £80 million sale to Real Madrid by snapping up Valencia star David Silva.

I understand Manchester United boss Ferguson has urged his chief executive David Gill to tie up a £24million deal having tracked the 23-year-old Spain winger all season.

Silva topped United's hit-list even BEFORE Ronaldo was given permission to join Madrid last week. United's scouts have watched Silva since December and Fergie has been impressed with the feedback on a versatile player who can play on either flank or as a second striker.
