RAFA BENITEZ WIELDS AXE

Liverpool boss dumps SIXTEEN backroom staff

RAFA BENITEZ - ruthless
By CHRIS BASCOMBE, 06/06/2009

LIVERPOOL are facing a legal backlash after dismissing an incredible SIXTEEN backroom staff as part of the increasingly bloody Anfield Rafalution.

The club sacked 10 Academy staff last week and another six long-serving employees left in the last few days.

Distressed former employees with well over 150 years service between them argue they've been given no valid reason for the termination of contracts and are unhappy with the club's first offers for pay-off packages.

Liverpool are now braced for a series of courtroom challenges to the decision, with most of those sacked preparing unfair dismissal claims.

The Merseyside club face massive compensation bills and that's come at the worst possible time for owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett given their perilous financial situation.

Liverpool argue most of the dismissals are a series of cost-cutting measures overseen by new finance director Philip Nash, particularly at Academy level, with the club trying to reduce staff expenses by up to as much as £2million a year.

Benitez plans to replace some of them by adding to the Spanish contingent at Anfield.

A Kop source said: "You've heard of the night of the long knives. This is more like two weeks of it and it may not be finished yet.

"Rafa wants a clean sweep, but some of the staff won't go quietly and are taking legal advice. Some of them don't even feel they've been told why they're going."

The first round of departures included reserve coach Gary Ablett, Academy director Piet Hamberg and youth coaches Dave Shannon and Hugh McAuley.

Shannon will have a strong claim against the club having been cited in the recent autobiographies of Steven Gerrard, Robbie Fowler, Michael Owen and Jamie Carragher as a major influence on their careers through the youth ranks.

In recent days the departure of six Melwood staff has been confirmed, including physio Victor Salinas, the club's players' liaison officer who has been at Liverpool for 14 years, and even the kit man.

Raffa cleared nothing...rafa has no money to employ them all!Its simple really. The two yanks have wrecked our club,we have to make cut backs like any fledging business.

Its fuc'k all to do with Rafa being ruthless..hopefully the idea of him wielding the axe can be knocked on the head and treated like the bulls'hit it is!

Its the yanks that are the problem!!

In times of hard ship people sometimes pull together! For example my mate works in a factory, they have all been put onto a 3 day week as things are bad. There are pay offs pending but everyone is together and in support of eachother regardless of where the axe falls!!

A football club is no different,if it aint making money it cant pay staff!!Have the figures due to them to Yank geriatric kunts passed you by?Or are you so blinded by your hate for a man that cares with a passion about our club you cant grasp one of the most basic rules of business?

You are a fuc'king tw@t lad,so is your little bell end mate ace.Its just unbelievable...I would love to go all clockwork orange on the both of ya!Sadly I doubt beating sense into such thickness would be of any use!

More cutbacks will be made, plus I wont loose no sleep over these sackings no one has come through the ranks since Gerrard, Carra, Owen & Fowler.

And that was long before Rafa arrived even Evertons academy produce better players than ours and some are local.
The only world class future player in the youth academy is Adam Pepper.

Thats 1 kid.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

I wonder who people will use as scapegoats when the owners are gone? I am surprised parry didnt get the blame for this. No doubt rafa is happy with his mega bucks contract, but he is here for the love of the club

I hope the owners manage to refinance, there is no guarantee that whoever buys us will do any better. We still managed to get in second in spite of them pesky owners and dished out new contracts to key players and kuyt  :D   even rafa got one ffs

well to be fair nobody has come through the ranks as not as many local kids are getting the chance anymore, the acadamey is full of foreign kids that are moving quickly to obscurity and anonimity

What a load a shi te

So now foreign kids are less talented than locals? :D

If no one is coming from the youth setup , that's the fault of the scouts and/or coaches not the nationality of the players

Facts are, as stated above : we've not had a decent player through since houllier arrived (ie no real credit goes to him for them) , So its been a long time!

Ship out thef failing staff and get some professionals in

:D

I think now, after five years I finally understand you peewee.

You want to be the advocate of the devil, you like to be the one who gets al lthe attention and you do this by posting ludicrous statements and then sticking by them.

Do you work for Talksport of a weekend mate ?
