Distin as CB cover for the departure of Sami.

I think this would be a good move as I always like Distin. he is very mobile and good in the air. Good choice for the departed Sami's role.

Anyway, just hoping for some big news....it seems we are so quiet on all front.

Distin has proven over the years to be a solid and dependable CB. He would offer ideal cover for Carra, Skrtel and Agger. In fact I bet he'd play more than his fair share of games ... if we signed him.

£2m a steal for a proven EPL player with a good 2-3 years left in the tank.

Well, I think he should be adequate enough to be a back up but of course it is hard to find someone who has the quality of Sami. Given the transfer fees amount, this is all we could get. I think he should be able to play better since he will be surrounded with better players. So, I'll reserve my judgement until otherwise.

In the meantime, we should tied up the biggest deal first and not these kind of trivial deal....hopefully to have some significant announcement in the next few days....

We can see a pattern here now , two signings seem iminent .
Silva and Tuncay . If we could get these two , thats alot of quality added to the squad , but
for me , it seems like benni and tuncay are the same type of players . Benni is more creative and
tuncay is much more physical , either way it will be a good signing .

Add tevez and a rightback . Nex season we might at least get a silverware and of course with the players like kuyt and benni maintaining their form .

Distan is an unusual one, he was half decent at City and looked a solid centre half.
But him and campbell at portsmouth have been shocking this season.
Whether thats more due to campbell than Distan is another matter.

As a fourth choice maybe, but i am far from convinced.

Distin is an okay CB i guess.. nothing special and i've got no clue why we're after him... we have 3 centerbacks who would all play ahead of him and having a kid as 4th choice wouldnt be so bad i think...

seems good enough for me... put in a youngster as fourth or fifth choice and we should be okay... no need to bring in 30sumthing year old just to have him in there for a few games... Tempting Rafa to rotate even if theres no need to... Imo we either replace one of the ones we got for better quality or we just keep it as it is and use everything we got to improve on other areas of the pitch.... 2 mill to buy him and with the wages and all... id rather put all that money as wages for Owen instead....

Your confusing me ?! you started a thread about our backline saying we need to make a new CB a priority and have stated that you dont think agger and skrtel are good enough yet in this thread your saying the three options we have got are good enough ?!?

Wheater & Distin arent going to improve our backline ... if thats what ur getting to.... I was talking about signing a top CB as a replacement to one of the young fellas we got... If we arent going to sign a top CB, we might aswell keep things as they are instead of forking out 2mill+wages for Distin or 5mill+wages for Wheater or whatever (all 4th choice CBs)....

do you not read the entire post before replying or what is it ?! ... thought i made myself clear in my previous post...

Yep.. right after we steal Kaka from under Reals' noses and swap Xabi with 5 players of our choosing from the Chelsea squad... Mind you, we got that Silva and Villa thing to sort out first.. heard we'r using Voronin as makeweight so that shouldnt be a problem
