Chris Kirkland has slammed suggestions that he could be leaving Anfield as 'absolute nonsense'.
There were reports earlier in the week that his former club Coventry City were hoping to secure a loan deal for the England under-21 goalkeeper, but Kirkland insists there's only one club he wants to play for.
"I have to say that kind of talk is complete nonsense," said Kirkland.
"Since I was eight-years-old, all I've ever wanted to do is play for Liverpool Football Club. My dad has a photograph of me in his wallet when I was a young lad, wearing my Liverpool kit. I haven't come this far to just give up.
"The gaffer has told all of us we'll all be given an opportunity and then it will up to ourselves. I'm confident when I'm fully fit I'll get a few games and then it's up to me to take my chance. But there's no question of me thinking of moving.
"The gaffer has told everyone they've got to fight for their place. I'm just going to knuckle down and try and impress him."
Kirkland's bid to establish himself as Liverpool goalkeeper this season has once more been thwarted by injury.
A back spasm sustained during training before the start of the campaign has left him, once more, back in the Melwood treatment room and scuppered his chances of contesting the number one spot with Jerzy Dudek.
"I'm like a man on a leash at the moment," he said. "I just can't wait to get playing and show the boss what I can do.
"I can't believe the timing of the last injury. My back just went into a spasm so I couldn't dive. I have a specialist, Judith Pittbrook, who comes to Melwood to treat me and she's worked wonders. I feel fine now. It's cleared up quickly. I'll be in full training next week and expect to be available for the West Brom match.
"A lot of people seem to think I've been plagued by a back problem, but that's just not true. The last time I had a back injury was 18 months ago. It's been okay since then.
"I've done a lot of hard work with the specialist and physiotherapists at Liverpool. The big problem I've hadis my body has been growing and changing shape for the last couple of years. I've also lost a lot of weight since I joined Liverpool, and that's been a factor too.
"Steven Gerrard went through a similar thing when he was a teenager. I wouldn't say my problems are related to those he suffered, but it's a similar thing where you're body is changing and it affects the muscles. I'm confident the time is going to come when all this will be behind me."
He added: "I don't want people to be talking about my potential anymore. I want to go out there, do it, and prove to everyone I have the ability to achieve my ambitions.
"A lot of people have said a lot of nice things about me during the course of my career. But it gets hard reading about what I can do for Liverpool and England because I still haven't done it yet.
"The time's got to come where people stop saying what I could be and see what I am. I know that's up to me. I know I've not helped myself with the injuries.
"It seems every time things are going well I get shot down. But if I can get a long run without any problems, then I can show what I can do."
