Haven't dropped a point in the league this campaign when Mascherano, Alonso, Gerrard, and Torres all start.

Quotes from the Portsmouth game tonight:

2200: Newcastle have yet to win at home in 2009 and are next in action at Liverpool on Sunday. Doesn't get easier does it.

From BBC Radio 5 Live's Steve Stone: "Newcastle probably need to do better than that. The worrying thing for Alan Shearer is that his team really tired with half an hour to go."

Just watched the end of their match - they look completely demoralised. Felt quite sorry for their fans actually and it would be a shame to see them relegated. If they play with the same attitude and lack of cohesion on Sunday we should win easily enough. Glen Johnson looked good at right back. How much do you think he would cost in the summer?

Getting relegated would be the best thing for Newcastle imo.  They need to get rid of that squad and start from scratch.  I still think they'll survive at Hull's expense though.  I can't see Hull getting a single point from their remaining games.

I honestly think that if Newcastle beat Boro in that crucial game on 11th May they'll survive.  4-5 points from their last 3 games after we beat them will save them I think.  6 and they'll definitely be safe imo.

Going down could prove to be beneficial, give them the chance to have a major clear out and rethink their whole club business plan, objectives and squad policy.

Regardless though they need a professional manager, Shearer is not the right guy.

Come sunday, he will be the perfect guy. For us at least, if we dont beat these on sunday I will, err not eat my hat as I dont have one, but I will be devastated. Im not normally one for saying lets not take them for granted but in this case we must. There is not a lot going for them at the moment, and we need to be ruthless. 7-0 to Liverpool !

Regardless of who we play, every game is just so massive for us right now
I don't really want to debate over Newcastle being weak or might be capable of a sucker punch
I just want us to win, and win big to increase the superior GD we have over the Manucs

As shockingly dire as Newcastle are, this match could end up being a real nail biter with us pulling our hair out (those of us who have hair).

Because if Middlesboro get a draw or a win against Man Utd, there will be 2 desperate teams out there trying for 3 points. One for survival, one for potential glory. So there could be an added pressure for us to really win it to narrow that gap at the top.

But looking at Newcastle lately, they are not handling the pressure too well. As much as I have sympathy for the Geordie fans, i'll be wanting us to trounce them this weekend.

As I said, it all depends on the Midd'boro v Man U game. If Man U win, we will win easily, if Boro get the shock win, there is the all added drama and pressure for Liverpool against Newcastle on Sunday.
