So if Silva refuses to play on the right, we are stuck with Kuyt again? :D

Someone else mentioned something about him the other day too. I hope it's true. Anyone know when his contract is up? Im guessing with Valencias situation and him being a fantastic player there are going to be 1 or 2 other clubs interested in him to say the least. Hopefully Rafa and the other spaniards can convince him Liverpool is where he belongs.

and Agger AND Skrtel are both overrated by our own ... Hyypia still the best we got... Albiol would be first choice when he adapts to the league....

Don't rate di maria , playing in a cra.p league , he'd surely stand out . Skrtel is the best defender at the club now i reckon , he doesn't have the experience of hypia and carragher but he's not far off from being one of the best . Can't remember a game where he has put a wrong foot in all season , done tremendously well to regain his place in the side after injury and adapt back even better .
How can you say sami is still the best defender we have left , he has lost  majority of his pace and i have not seen anyone out muscle drogba out of the game like martin .

well its just my opinion... i think Skrtel can someday become a brilliant centerback .. hes good now make no mistake about it but i think Hyypia is the more dominant of the 2 and i'd take Hyypia ahead of Skrtel 7days a week...
The way we set up though with 2 holding midfielders and Kuyt in the side, we'd probably get away with playing Bramble in the side so.... yea...

DiMaria... i havent seen much of him in the portugese league.. mostly with the argentinau21s and in the olympics and stuff.. he looks impressive but i dont know much else about him... RealMadrid and Inter i think were interested in him ...
anyways... Silva, owen, and a RightBack... sell one of Babel, Kuyt, Benayoun + the other craap (voronin, dossena, leto..) .... any other players we sell we'll need to replace...

better than Kuyt, Babel and Ngog put togther... enough said..
when hes fit he plays if we'r playing an average side... if he isnt we play torres upfront... less games, less chance of him getting injured... and plus... look at his record despite all the injuries everyone goes on and on about... class...

He has lost his pace, but he can still finish. However you have to wonder if Rafa will even entertain taking him back seeing as he already turned down the chance to come back to us after RM. Instead he chose to go to Newcastle to keep his England seat warm. Secondly if Rafa were to take him back he would have to take a massive pay cut given how much he actually plays. I heard the other day since his move to Newcastle he has only played around 55 games in total. In 3 years that is a terrible record.

Hello some more transfer news for David Silva. I think he should get his own thread now don't you? :D

Rafael Benitez ready to break bank for David Silva of Valencia

James Ducker

Rafael Benítez, the Liverpool manager, is prepared to break the Merseyside club’s transfer record for a second time in as many years after identifying David Silva, the Valencia and Spain playmaker, as his principal transfer target this summer.

Liverpool may be eyeing a first Barclays Premier League title and second European Cup under Benítez this season, but having ended speculation about his future this month by signing a new contract that will keep him at Anfield for another five years, the manager is already planning for next season and he is willing to spend the bulk of his £30 million summer transfer kitty on Silva.

With debts that stood at £462 million last November, Valencia have conceded that they may have to sell their best players at the end of the season, including Silva, David Villa, the forward, and Raúl Albiol, the defender, and Benítez hopes to take advantage of his former club’s parlous financial state.

Benítez will walk away if Valencia — who asked for a combined fee of about £130 million for Silva and Villa when Manchester City inquired about their availability in January — demand an unrealistic price, but it is feasible that the Liverpool manager could exceed the club-record £20.2 million he paid Atlético Madrid for Fernando Torres, the Spain striker, in July 2007 in order to snare Silva.

Under the terms of his new contract, Benítez has been granted the power to begin transfer negotiations — if not necessarily conclude them — and by moving swiftly for Silva he hopes to wrap up a deal at a reasonable price relatively quickly, rather than allow the situation to drag on throughout the summer.

Eduardo Maciá, the Liverpool chief scout, who brought Silva to Valencia when he was a teenager, was recently sent to Spain to ask about his availability and is thought to have been encouraged by what he was told, even though Liverpool would probably face competition from Real Madrid and Barcelona for the 23-year-old.

The prospect of a move to Anfield would certainly appeal to Silva, not least because of the strong Spanish contingent at the club, from Benítez, Maciá and others on the management staff, to Torres, Xabi Alonso, José Manuel Reina, Albert Riera and Álvaro Arbeloa, his Spain team-mates with whom he won the European Championship last summer, on the playing side.

Silva would certainly be a welcome addition. He operated in an advanced left-sided position for Spain, in support of Torres and Villa, during the European Championship but can play on either wing or directly behind a lone striker, a versatility that appeals greatly to Benítez.

A move for Albiol cannot be ruled out in the event that Daniel Agger, the Denmark defender who is attracting interest from Real, AC Milan and Juventus, fails to sign a new contract and leaves Anfield, but capturing Silva is the priority.

Benítez will have no hesitation looking elsewhere, however, if Valencia are overambitious in their demands, with Aaron Lennon, the Tottenham Hotspur winger, Antonio Valencia, of Wigan Athletic, and Arjen Robben, the Real winger, cheaper alternatives.

Tom Hicks, the Liverpool co-owner, has claimed that he is ready to sell part of his shares in the Texas Rangers Major League Baseball team and possibly his Dallas Stars ice hockey franchise, moves that could be designed to consolidate his position at Anfield. The news comes only days after George Gillett Jr, his estranged business partner, denied that he was looking to sell his 50 per cent stake in Liverpool despite ordering a full review of his assets.

“I’ve been quietly looking for minority investors to come back into the ownership of the Rangers as a way to be prudent in a bad economy,” Hicks said. “I’m doing the same thing with the Stars.”

I Do Not Know Anything About Juventus - David Silva

The midfielder has stated that he only knows what he has heard in the media regarding a rumoured move to Juventus...
26 Mar 2009 16:27:11

David Silva has admitted this afternoon that he knows anything about his rumoured move to Juventus, aside from what he has read in the media.

The Spanish winger is widely believed to be leaving Valencia this summer, with the Italian side his most likely destination.

However, he told Marca that right now he is only focused on playing for both his club and his country.

"I am training well and I am getting better, I will be ready for the two matches. I do not know anything about Juventus, all I know is what I see in the media. I am concentrated on the Spanish team and Valencia," he assured.

The fact that Silva is playing for Spain and has not been available for his club lately has frustrated coach Unai Emery, and the winger acknowledged that "it is logical that the coach wants to have all the players he can. In this case we could not play for our team but can for Spain".

The Valencia man revealed how he really wanted to play for his club, but that his injury prevented from even running.

"Here I have ten days to work, to recover and to play for Spain. Then I will go to Valencia," he said.

Certainly the national team will be glad of his presence for the game with Turkey this weekend, and he talked about how the team are all focused on getting the three points.

"We have not spoken about our consecutive victories, but we want to continue this way and keep on winning. It is better if records are beaten but we just want to focus on the next match," he explained.

I wonder where that has come from - Italy being his 'most likely desitnation'. I would have thought it would Liverpool due to the Spanish contingent. Hope he comes to us though.

Liverpool To Bid For Valencia Defender Raul Albiol – Reports

The Reds hope to take advantage of Valencia's difficult financial position to land the Spanish international for €9.6 million this summer...
26 Mar 2009 10:12:04

According to reports in various British tabloids, Liverpool are preparing an end-of-season offer for Valencia centre-back Raul Albiol.

Although the Spanish international is thought to have been valued at €19.3 million (£18m) by los Che, it is claimed that debt-stricken Primera Division outfit may have to listen to offers nearer €9.6m (£9m).

The Daily Mirror suggests that Reds manager Rafael Benitez's links with his former club will help him beat other potential suitors to the versatile defender's signature.

The Sun, meanwhile, has hinted that Liverpool's interest in the 23-year-old may signal the end of Daniel Agger's career at Anfield.

The Danish defender is still yet to put pen to paper on a new contract with the Premier League club. Although Benitez appears to be keen to keep hold of the defender, he may have to sell this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer in 2010. Milan and Juventus are believed to be interested in his services.

that cr@p league surely hurt Ronaldo's development ???

Plus Di Maria has stood out at the international stage

THat being said he is quite small, and there are probably more talented attacking wingers we could be after. Like Kuba, Guardado, Capel, Mata, Arda Turan, Luis Suarez, Christian Rodriguez, even Ben Arfa and Menez (who have been mostly dissapointing) might be better shouts. And then there are the obviously better ones like Maxi Rogriguez and Silva.

But then again, price has a LOT to do with it
