First refusal on owen - Not so stupid after all

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby RedorDead » Fri Aug 27, 2004 5:18 am

Today's papers are reporting that Liverpool have negotiated first refusal on Michael Owen if he decides to leave the Bernebeau. Makes me even more certain that the club have done the right thing at the right time in selling Owen. I for one would love to see him develop out in Spain and return to Anfield a more complete player one day.
Who know's...If Nunez becomes a superstar then you might see Real Madrid offering us £8 mill and Owen for him in a couple of years!!! :)

Just hope he can come back from abroad and be as good as when he left (but with new enthusiasm) just like Ian Rush

yea i did,

sorry i wasn't too clear.

Owen wouldn't have been in Madrids squad, as he signed too late to play in the qualifiers  (remember he sat on the bench in our first game in Graz)  but he can play from now on so i'm sure he will :)

Brings back memories if the Rushie deal.  Dalglish sold him to Juventus for £3.3 million in '87.  During the following season he phoned Rush weekly to see how he was getting on.  When the opportunity came he bought him back for £2.8 million.  £500,000 was a huge profit 16 years ago especially when you consider we still won the league during Rush's venture abroad.....10/10 for Dalglish's man-management IMO.

Like mr benitez said "Michael Owen is history now"
Chopper:Look, you're not still angry at me about the leg, are you?
Neville Bartos : Nah, forget about it.
Chopper : Because I don't know if you remember, Neville, but I had that bloody shotgun pointed at your head. I reconsidered and dropped it down to your kneecap. Remember?
