Owen would be good as a stop gap, but would that be what he'd want?

No way i could see him finishing his career here he got 6 years left in him i think and when we sign keane for 20 mil at what 30 ? why not owen at 27 ffs.

I happy pay him 70 k week inc bonus to have a great box players at our club.

Its some thing we have missed since he left tbh.

Edit : In fact Him and torres would be a awesome strike force.

Torres likes to drop off and pull side and owen would be our poucher in the box can't see why more people wouldn't want that in our team.

Time rafa bits the bullet and admits he was wrong and signs a players who could just help us win the prem.

Maybe his day he might be up there but lets face it his day is well and truly over.

So out of 200 you are giving Nando 190. He is currently the best forward in World football and has just won the Euro 2008 with Spain, scoring the winning goal in the final.

You then mark Owen  only 5 points behind this man??

Fabio Cappello must be a very stupid man - he has a player who is fit and almost as good as the Fernando Torres and he STILL wont pick him   :oh:

But he will pick Defoe  :nod

To injury prone and wages to expensive.

There is better out there

clueless there is better out there ?

What are not getting injured yes !
At putting ball in back of net fook off !  :buttrock

Back in the day maybe, Ive bean watching him lately playing for Newcastle and he isnt as sharp as he used to be, a few weeks ago he missed a few sitters.

I would rather have Defoe

are you fckin serious mate ?!

he's been brilliant for newcastle so far this season... hes banging them in for fun... 8 in 14 is it ?! come on dont just argue for the sake of it... when hes fit the guy is absolute quaity and theres no disputing his finishing...

As for Defoe.... he'd cost too much which automatically rules him out and i think a fit Owen is better suited to this club playing at this level than defoe ever will be...

you wanna go in a different direction i reckon the likes of Adriano(Inter), Gudjohnsen(Barcelona) and maybe even Mido would have been better shouts...

I like mido he is a good shout how much tho 6-8 mil ?

I feel with good players round him mido could be a little gem and is prove to be bale to cope with prem.  :)

I don't think we can risk any one over sea's in jan it to risky as we only have one shot at this remember.

Rafa please no free transfers unless its owen of course .  :D

6-8 mill seems like alot of money for someone whos mostly used as a sub... with all the strikers they have i was thinking more like a swap with pennant or maybe Pennant + a million...

Adriano would be more than capable of playing and adapting to this league imo.. he's built like a prem player and although his attitude is questionable im pretty sure not many would doubt his ability... think its just a matter of time before he gets his act together and starts playing at the highest level again... if any top club was ever going to buy him i reckon the end of thi season at the most would be the time to do that....

27 and well and truely over ok feel sorry for gerrard then

and carra  .

You are talking rubbish thing is he never picked Owen for england bcos he is worried about if he has him in team and scoring and then gets injured he have to pull people in a rush.

I don't blame him for this but look at flipside :upside: .

Owen wants to get into that england team so bad he will play his heart out at any club he is at to get there.

So who wouldn't want a player with that aim at there club more so with owens track record at scoring.

One thing people don't get owen has made a few bad choices in his career but he has always scored goals and helped teams win things he is top class player and imo any one that don't agree just don't understand football.  :Oo:

O and about my 190/200 for torres 200 would be perfect player and no one is perfect so this is why 190 but if you wanna live in dream red tinted glasses land up to you rate him perfect.

only reason capello didnt pick owen for the last england squad imo was over fitness fears (thats what he said) ... coming back from a long injury and only starting to start games for his club im sure he just didnt want to call him up for him to get injured during international duty and then Capello gets all the stick in the world from Newcastle fans yet again...

anyone in their right mind would tell you tht they'd take Owen ahead of Defoe for an England squad every day of the week...

Gerrard and Carra haven't been dogged with injuries their whole careers, Owen has. Just like Fowler he never had the long and successful career he should have.

And if you think Fabio Capello wont pick Owen for England because he is afraid he might get injured then WHY THE HELL SHOULD WE SIGH HIM ??

bcos he was letting owen just play for his club to get over his injurys makes sense.

Shame the spainish manager didn't think the same about torres or you think picking players after injurys is good thing for internation managers ?
:glare:

Capello dosent rate Owen I think that much is obvious to most people. i know people are going to have different opinions but for me re-signing Owen is a bad idea.

Rafa seems to agree with me

"We will have Fernando Torres back soon, and I can assure everyone that clearly we are not going for Michael Owen. Clearly."

I would have liked to hear Rafa say that. Just so I could see the expression on his face when he said clearly twice like that haha.
