Steven gerrard's  coaching badge

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby lakes10 » Sun Dec 21, 2008 4:55 pm

so 2009 will see Steven go for his coaching badge and now the word is that Jamie Carragher will be next to him.

I hope it would not just be me that would like to see a Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard manager team at Liverpool.

but i dont know much about the coaching badge, how long do they take to get and how many do they need to have?

pmsl.

Yes you do need them, sometimes if you are lucky they let you be the manager as the same time you are taking them, but i dont think you can be a manager in europe (CL) till you have them.

I just hope we are not in a position where after he gets him badges we are desperate for him to come and manage us (like Newcastle were with Shearer). If and when he comes to us it has to be so that he has the knowledge to succeed. Hopefully he can work under Rafa for a few years to get some experience. But 100% I would expect to see him as our manager one day.

At least we know the club would be in good hands with JC or Stevie
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Young English managers need to stop moaning and go down the leagues, learn the trade and prove they can actually manage. Half these ex-players want to walk into a Premiership job and be given millions to spend the day after they hang up their boots.

Carragher seems like the most likely to manage us in the future. But when he retires from playing he should be an assistant/coach in the Premiership and then try his hand at management in the lower leagues before being considered for the managers job at Liverpool.

He can't do that, according to Gareth Southgate there isn't time if you're an England player. Noone said Southgate had to go straight into management or couldn't do the course when injured or in the summers when England didn't play in competitions, but what would we know?

Gerrard for player manager, didn't we win the double last time we had a player manager?

I'm sorry, but Gerrard doesn't have the mindset to be Liverpool Manager. JC could do it, but Gerrard would be far too sentimental, and be playing a 40 year-old Owen every match...

I'd love to see JC manage us one day with Sami as a first team coach. I don't really see a manager in Stevie but with a bit of luck I'm wrong :)

I dont even think Gerrard will become a manger of any club to be honest.  He dosnt live football 24/7 managers need to.  He will probably teach some kids hidden away from all the pressures of top flight mangement and who wud blame him.
