utd have an awful record in europe for a club who can afford to spend 30million on a dodgy defender.at the highest level they are just not good enough.

manu are consistent but only to a moderate level. While this much spoken of "seven consecutive Quarter-Finals" sounds impressive, they have still only won it once, reached one final and failed to progress past the QFs most of the time. While manu stay consistent and other teams come and go, they still can't get past whichever opponents they face most of the time. Ferguson is so obsessed with winning it he wasted £28m on Veron. He said he was a focal part of the team and then offloaded him! Ferdinand is found out far too often for a £30m defender and Van Nistelrooy's record against the highest quality opposition is questionable (lots of goals against weaker defences)
