Josemi was decent when he joined us, he had a good first half season, got injured and started playing cr@p. plus he only costed us 2m

However, Dossenna costs 7m and is cr@p.

Your guess is as good as mine St Mick. Watching some of his performances for Blackburn I'm wondering why the f'uck we got rid of him and spent £7 million on an inferior replacement.

Don't want to go into a Rafa bashing mode but this was a poor decision by anyones standards.

OK , Warnock was not the finished article when we got rid BUT since his move, game by game for Blackburn the lad is showing his worth and in my opinion it's far superior to that of Dossena's.

i like Warnock. and we have a clause over Barragan. we can buy him for 2mil in 2008. if we dont buy him back by the time he is 21 the next clause will be in 2011 but the price will be higher.

From wiki (Take with very big grain of salt):  " Liverpool maintains a €2 million buy-back option over the player; this clause can be used in 2008. If Liverpool don’t take back Barragán by then, when he’s 21, they'll have another buy-back option in 2011. But at that moment his price will have increased."

Can only echo the opinions of the majority on here regarding Degen and Dossena last night, they were absolutely disgraceful.
I know it was Degens first competitive match so that should be taken into consideration but still there was so much about him that was bad that its clear already that he is nowhere near good enough. He backed out of challenges was jogging at times, let the ball just go behind him at times, he did look ok going forwards but still backed out of the challenge with Gomes when he should of scored after a clever run and good pass from Lucas.
Dossena was worse and has had time to acclimatise, he was at fault for most of the goals and offered nothing at all going forwards.
Not sure how he gets near the Italy squad, it is surely the case of...you play for a big club so you get your chance. He is woeful and after last nights performance should be bombed for a long time and possibly flogged back to Italy unless we see a dramatic improvement in performance and attitude. At lease Degen was free and we expected him to be poor.
Darby and Insua deserve there chances to be the replacements if there are any injuries for now without question.

The attitude was the key for me.  Degen could not even be bothered to track back and actually defend.  Dossena or Degen were both partially at fault for every goal.  Granted Cavalieri did not help things out.  Insua and Darby deserve a chance.  Please stick Degen and Dossena in the reserves.  Swallow your pride Rafa and allow the youngsters to grow and blossom.  Please do not sell Darby like we did with Warnock as we now could really use Warnock in our euro squad.

Absolutly spot on Igor i said the same thing myself. Its absolutly frightening to even contemplate Arby and Aurelio out for any period of time an one of them two filling in . Nightmare.

But ive been raving about Steven Darby now for ages the lad is more than capable an i think he will be a brilliant prospect for us . Insua was actualy ok when he came on last night at least he had a go.
It was strange really because when i seen him warming up to come on i thought yes left back for left back an yet him a Dossena swapped positions an that Dossena is sh.ite on the left wing an all .

But i totaly agree Darby an Insua .An they never cost a penny

Actually Insua was a part exchange for Palleta.  So, yeah I guess they never cost a penny.

I'm all in favour of giving the youngsters a chance, but I suppose Rafa *had* to play these lads 'cos they cost so much. Maybe he will offload 'em in the New Year, we can always hope he does....Another major blunder from Rafa or so it looks. You don't see the likes of Fergie or Wenger signing donkeys like this, do you ? Makes me wonder what the man is on !!

that Degen produced one the worst performances ive seen from a Liverpool player in years, he was laughable. I wasnt even angry after a while, i was literally laughing to my self at the amount of errors he was making.

Degen was bad defensively... going forward he was pretty decent in getting himself in good position and no im not only talking about the one run where he ended up injuring Gomez and missing a great chance... I think he's just not fit enough to cover the whole flank just yet i mean he's been injured forever and then Rafa goes and plays the very undisciplned ElZhar infront of him.... not the best combination down the right imo... The 2 central midfielders ddnt do much to cover when he went forward either and that side looked pretty exposed as soon as we lost possession...
You could see from the way he tries so very hard to use what seems like every ounce of his upper body strength to nudge players off the ball when going for 50/50 challenges.. not physically ready for the english game yet imo... given time he might turn out half decent ... wouldnt mind seeing more of him before judging...

Dossena on the other hand was shhit at both ends... defensively he was awful and going forward...well he never did...

The team lacked balance in the 1st half ... you had players all over the pitch not knowing when and where to run to... it really was as if Rafa picked the lineup and told them to each play in a given position and that was it... no tactical instructions no marking or anything like that... just a bunch of amateurs who (however talented or not) where always likely to struggle...

We are out of that competition and its all been said but i think that game showed us a thing or two about our players...
Not going to go into too much detail but since we'r talking about fullbacks here i think Dossena is an absolute waste of money, space and air... hes :censored: defensively and iv never seen a worst crosseer of the ball or a left footed fullback with
less composure on the ball... in terms of awarness neither him nor Degen seem up for it... same for positioning... lacking in basic defensive skills both and while degen seems to be a fullback we could bring on if we are 1-0 down and chasing a game looking to go forward more.. i have no idea where Dossena would figurein any scenario....hope we see his fat behind out the door sometime soon...

According to some poster on RAWK, Degen's out for 4-6 weeks.  I think that we have found a worthy replacement for Kewell.

i'm a newbie and this is my first comment and im sorry it has to be a negative one.....here we go!

I was at the carling cup game at spurs lastnite and i must say Dossena looked awful, going forward he looks ok but defensively he was missing. Degen fair play to the lad he has not played but his performance left me wondering why benitez did not start with young Steven Darby, he looked much more assured when coming on.

I agree this is a major problem in our squad, we may have strength in debt but have we got the quality???
