He claims that Obama is not black, he's a mix (a mulato) because his parents have different colours of skin. He claims then that he can't be considered black. He blames us the whites, of calling black whatever it's not pure white. He says Obama is as white, as black. If he's not white, he's not black either.
Well I had never thought of that. Myself I dream of the day in which it's not "news" to have a black, white, green or yellow president, in the day where it's not even commented as an anecdote. We should leave past centuries of racialwittery behind, and consider all human kind the same.
I was very surprised to see black people in America going as crazy as they did. It was if they announced reparations or something. Obama has no ties to slavery and he came of age after the main struggles of the civil rights movement, and was raised mostly by his White grandparents and mother. Normally Blacks vote 90:10 Dem to republican, but this election was something around 150-200:1 Thats crazy. And McCain is a moderate republican.
Also, I found it very strange when Black people celebrated the O.J. Simpson verdict, after he committed double murder and got off.
In case people were wondering I voted for Bob Barr, and I voted for slot machines in race tracks in Maryland AND IT PASSED!!!!!!!
Joe my kids are raised by a balck father (Me) and a white
mother and they still see themselves black or mixed race
and black people still like them
I was talking about the civil rights movement in America in the 1960s and Obama's ties to it. I wasn't trying to analyze his racial makeup, I was pointing out that his family history is not one of slavery and intense prejduice.
Did Obama face harsh racism and did he have to overcome extra obsticles because of the color of his skin? YES Was it on the same level as people like Dr. MLK Jr. or Jessie Jackson or almost any black man that is 10+ years older than Obama? Not exactly.
I was just trying to say that Obama does not have much in common with most African-Americans, especially in terms of the types of lives that his parents lead compared to the parents of most African-Americans. And yet, African-Americans celebrated waaay more when Obama won (then when Clinton won (and he was VERY popular with African-Americans)), and why? because of the color of his skin. And that goes to the point Sabre was making. It really shouldn't be a big deal at all that Obama was black or half black. That shouldn't be an issue
