Let's be totally, brutally honest about this, shall we?

The pathetic game show that is the US election is nothing but an utter f*cking farce. I'm suprised they didn't have cheerleaders and candyfloss.

For Christ's sake - I'm embarrassed for the yanks.

They are the most powerful nation in the world. They helped for the most part to win WW2. People naturally think differently over there after their country has gone through so much. Instead of just mocking them as a farce becasue you see it differently why not just keep your trap shut.

Do not get into a history debate with me, for you will lose.

America entered the war because Japan attacked Pearl Harbour.

They were quite happy to just continue selling their arms to us, until that. (Accumulating a debt we were paying until 2006, I might add.)

"They have gone through so much".

Oh f*cking dear. Like what, exactly? Come on - give me examples of their toil since WWII...

I see the election as a farce, and I think you might find that I am not the only one. The whole thing was pathetic from start to finish.

Like it or lump it, fella - that's my view.

Joe, I realise that you are American, and I won't labour the point. I just don't agree with the way the elections work over the pond, and think they send out the wrong message, is all.

Apologies for any offence caused. I would much rather be joined at the hip with you chaps than this shower of c*nts across the channel.

I have enjoyed reading this thread over the last few days, some very good arguments and opinions, I like the fact that people have educated opinions, even if their opinion is something I disagree with. Its good to have on what is essentially a football forum website.

Then you get people like this.

As I read his comments that came before this I presumed they were tounge in cheek but when then this came along and I realise he was just being retarded.

Great have an opinion, but make it sensible. You cant just go around saying your all :censored: bcos.... wel just bcos.

Your arguments are full f pit holes and you if you thought for one minute about the opinions you are putting forwards you would realise you were being rediculous and you would find many other of your own opinions and thoughts that contradict the rubbish you shpealed on here.

You are trying to get reactions by being confrontational like a 15 year old.

:veryangry

Hit a nerve, have I? You sad little scrote.

I suggest you get back to school and resit the classes which focused on those things of fable "reading" and "understanding."

You obviously missed them first time around...

At what point did I "go around saying you're all..."?

Get back to puberty, you oily f*cking div.

Oi c*nt - who's tweaked your tail?

I think you might find that all I have said is that the election process is like a gameshow.

If your tiny, tiny mind cannot cope with such a vigorous outburst ( :Oo: ) then I suggest you kill yourself immediately.

this is why he was compared to MLK:

Echoing Martin Luther King's "I've Been to the Mountaintop" address, he declared, "But tonight, because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this moment, change has come to America" and "The road ahead will be long, our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year, or even in one term — but America, I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there."[1] Both phrases reference phrasology used in the "Mountaintop" speech. At another point in the speech he again referenced King when referring to the 'arc of history', a phrase King used regularly, most notably after the Selma to Montgomery marches saying "the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice".

A lot of historians will tell you the US knew Pearl Harbour was going
to happen, but they let it happen.

Public opinion at the time was that the US shouldn't get involved in a war in Europe.

Cue Pearl Harbour and the rest was history.

Spot on Lando
One of the very first things he mentioned or spoke about, was instantly to play down the promises he made while he was campaigning. Fecking great speech my @rse, people getting teary eyed ........ FFS do me a favour !

See this is another thing that had me smiling in disbelief, firstly EVERYBODY is saying how his speech was the best in recent history. Compairing it to Martin Luther Kings famous speech ! People go over the top because he is black simple as. Because he is Black, his speech is great like MLK's. It wasnt, it was just a decent on cued speech. Personally I thought Mcains speech was very humble in defeat and that for me was just as good.

But the thing that got me was once Obama had been nominated President (elect) and this is where your quote comes into it. One of the very first things he mentioned or spoke about, was instantly to play down the promises he made while he was campaigning. Fecking great speech my @rse, people getting teary eyed ........ Well to be honest the biggest worry for everyone is the financial crisis and he was just saying it may not happen overnight. No one knows for sure just how bad things are going to get. Heck they didnt even see it coming. IMO it is better for someone to do that rather than blindly say yes I will solve all the problems for sure this terms for him only to :censored: up along the way because thats what most of them do.

Not only that but it was only a matter of time before they got involved anyway. If they didnt then Stalin would have made a deal with Hitler and to be honest I dont think Roosevelt liked the idea of possibly having to face Russia, Japan and Germany. They would simply not win that.

How true. Obama is just standing on the shoulder of a giant and the media are just milking it. MLK did more good with the power of his own voice than Obama will ever do in his term as the so called most powerful man in the world.

Yeah but why is it a farce? Give me some reasons other than you dont care whats going on over there?

Global news domination over the past year, 18 month campaigns costing millions, rallying speeches which claim to offer everything under the sun, empty promises, "All American" propaganda, a*seholes who have spent their entire lives with a silver spoon up their sh*tboxes spouting about being "Mr/Mrs America", another reckoning that because he had half a shandy, and a drag on a spliff that he can somehow relate to the little b*stard gang members who kill for fun, adults crying like the parents of disabled children whom have been cured by God, and a whole lot of expensive lighting and sound.

For the past few months, it has ben impossible to have the TV on or pick up a paper without having this extravagant pantomime thrust in your face. Even the radio has been contaminated with this tosh.
Why does everyone in the media think we give a flying rat's todger about the US presidency, when half the population doesn't even vote on OUR elections?

Do you think that the states will be watching Gordon b*stard Brown's dishonourable fall from grace with the same intensity as we have Bush's? Do you imagine the people over there, who believe that the World ends at Rhode Island, will put up with David Cameron's victorious stoll into power being shown every minute of every day on every f*cking channel whilst they're trying to watch the Simpsons?
Of course they won't. Because it's none of their f*cking business, and, like me, they couldn't give a sh*t about some foreign country's elections.

Now that Bush is exiting stage left, can we have a f*cking interval whilst I fetch my ice cream and go for a p*ss?
