I've been trying to avoid the ridiculously extensive coverage the US election has been getting in the UK all year. However, now it is nearly upon us (finally) I'm interested. A black presidental candidate winning will be a monumental event. To be fair, it is credit to the US. How many senior black politicians are there in the UK, let alone potentially party leaders?
Back to reality though - you have to be cynical about the Obama campaign. 'Change' and 'Hope' repeated ad infinitum is not a meaningful platform, it's a shallow PR campaign and a very expensive one at that.
I do hope he wins though.
