They didnt vote for him becasue he is black. They voted for him becasue it was time for a change of administration. The Bush era was a disaster on just about every front. Clinton left him with the economy in a reasonably healthy state and he fecked it all up spunking so much on defence. Then there was Iraq and Afghanistan. If McCain had won it would have given the Republicans a licence to carry on with the same :censored:

albeit with some other muppet pulling the strings.

They also have a big majority in the senate and the house of represenatives meaning Obama should not have any problem pushing any new legislation through.

You're right it does always come down to this.

Havent you seen the media, the people of America.

The first black man of America blah blah blah, 'the Afro American' 'Martin Luther king' 'history in the making' (which I think is a legend BTW).

If anyone is using that 'Afro American' stuff to their advantage its him, the media and the Yanks in general who are using the fact hes black to make him iconic. About his religon, its something that has been brought up. Valid or not I had my opinion, I think it may of been a smear campaign but I was/am skeptical of anything like that.

I think it is a wonderful thing that Obama got home. The World needs a new direction right about now, and the President of the most powerful country on Earth is one of the few people with the mandate to give it. Every now and then somebody comes along who leaves a footprint in the sands of time, and Obama strikes me as being such a man.

In my lifetime Gorbachev changed the face of the World forever as he was instrumental in the integration of Russia into modern civilisation. Nelson Mandela provided a momentum and a lightening rod for peace and forgiveness long after his reign as South African President had ended. Just occasionally somebody comes along who can see above the parapet, who can reach for the sky and carry people with them.

Like I say I may be wrong but I get the feeling Obama is the real deal. Never before has the World more needed a leader who can lead with inspiration, dignity, undertanding and humility. I listened to his first speech there and he had the tears rolling down me cheeks to tell the truth. Cometh the hour cometh the man and all that stuff, his task is not a small one but my gut feeling is that he is up to it. Good luck to the bloke, we will all benefit in some measure if he can pull it off.
