In need of help here.

My computer totally flipped on Wednesday.

When I switched it on it was initiallising, then would turn off - screen
would just go black.

Tried to fix it last night doing System Restore - but for some reason it
wont let me pick a restore date.

Now, it lets me log on to the internet but wont let me navigate. It'll open a window to begin with but when I try to navigate it comes up with 2 options:
1st: I can click to get antivirus security

2nd: I can continue (not recommended)

When I click on option 2 - it wont continue, just freezes.

Anyone out there with a solution? Would be appreciated.

How about reformatting your computer ?

Sounds like a trojan horse is making it's way around your system mate. Go and get a good anti virus
and see if that works, failing that stick in you operating system disk and do a restore or a fix.

What operating system do you have?.

Sounds like it - there were windows popping up left right nad centre
advertising all sorts of dodgey websites.

Gotta be honest - but "operating system"? .. er windows?

maybe cause you spelt computer wrongly

anyway

Click on your "My Computer", then right click your hard drive icon, go to "Properties". Click on "Tools" tab then, under Error-Checking, click "Check Now..." Then check "Automaticly fix system errors" and "Scan for and attempt to recovery of bad sectors". You'll have to restart then it will auto run the check.

OR

or you start your PC under safe mode

after running in a safe mode, restart and press the alt f8 button.Now select the option The last working config and boot up. that might work.

I did the f8 thing last night, which stopped it from turnng off automatically.

Im in work at the mo,, so will have another look tomorrw.

Sounds indeed like a trojan + it fiddling with the register.

For starters, get to google, search "Advanced Windows Care", download that free program, run it, it will try to solve most problems (register, trojan, etc) and chances are that the problem will be solved.

If this doesn't work, then I'll have to make you more questions

I done that and got that Advanced windows care program and ran it!
you wanna see the shi'te it pulled out of my PC that Adaware and AVG did'nt detect!

Its fixable if its a trojan. Get a decent antivirus package to identify what the trojan is, and then google the name of the trojan to get instructions how to remove it.
